What Has Gone Wrong?

Our final League position will be determined by our own results, so forget about Sutton winning with lucky late goals.

We should only worry about winning our matches and of course three points at Sutton are a MUST. I would have the team practicicing on the worst 3G pitch, I could find in preparation of going there. That match is vital....but we have to improve at home while maintaining our away form. :scarf:

Sutton WILL drop points, when they do, we have to capatialise.

What Has Gone Wrong?

West Ham 1964 team photo. There were only three future Torquay players in the picture. The team lined up as follows;

Back row left to right:
J.Birkett, J.Kelly, M.Peters, K.Brown, J.Standen, J.Bond, J.Lyall, J.Bovington, R.Moore.

Front row left to right:
R.Bradbrook, Boyce, J.Byrne, G.Hurst, A.Sealy, A.Scott.

Ken Brown, John Bond and Tony Scott the three future Gulls.

This was long before Trevor Brooking!

Thank you MellowYellow for the trip down memory lane. It WAS appreciated by some but obviously not all. Once again a certain indivual sees fit to belittle others.

A little decorum would be welcomed.

Anyway, defo six pointer today.
Need a win to keep up the pressure.
Hopefully a few players back today from injury and we can have some sort of decent formation....
Plan - Keep Armstrong quiet.....
Although they are no great shakes away from home....
Up the Gulls
Famous last words!
That is just what Hartlepool said about us before we played them away, earlier in the
season.....and looked what happened there.

All we can do is win our matches and not concern ourselves with what others are doing. When you take your eye off the ball, that is when the wheels come off.

Injury update?

happytorq wrote: 03 Mar 2021, 21:15 of those 3, Little is surely the greatest 'luxury' player. If we can get Moxey back, that instantly makes our back 4 more balanced. Lewis would be a bonus.

If Little is deemed fit, he could be a decent person to have on the bench, although of course we'll be out sight (at least 4-0 up!) by half time anyway.

Gary Johnson and his tactics & mind games

Before anyone comes on with an offensive reply, I now realise that in the list of fifteen Covolon was listed as Lucas.

A bit like listing Moxey as Dean!

What Has Gone Wrong?

SuperNickyWroe wrote: 22 Feb 2021, 16:11 That is incorrect.
We were 10pts clear, but had played 3 games more than Sutton, Stockport and Notts.
...and now we can see whats happened.
I don't like using the injury excuse, but we have had a full starting XI out - most of which would be in the team.

We WERE eleven points clear on Sunday 2nd January...and would have been fourteen, had we not given Yeovil two late goals.

I am looking at the Non League paper

Torquay played 17 points 38
Hartlepool played 16 points 27
Sutton. played 13 points 26
Stockport played 14 points 24
Notts Co. played 14.points 23
Maidenhead played 14 points 23
Altrincham. played 17 points 23

, You will need to take off a shoe and sock to count up to ELEVEN. 38 minus 27 equals..,..eleven.
I accept not all teams had played the same number of games but I would ALWAYS rather have the points in the bank.

Clearly, one win in the last seven League matches is relegation form, thank goodness that is averted for this campaign.

Am not filled with optimism for tonight at Solihull. I pray for a 1-0 win, any sort of goal. In off someones backside, own goal, anything just as long as weeget

I accept your apology.

What Has Gone Wrong?

We can not get the injured players back quickly and when they do, they have no confidence. Little is an example - out for ages, comes back and is afraid to tackle, now out again.

With the exception of Davis, who is finished the others need to start working on a comeback. I am told Davis was offered to have his contract paid up but he refused - thanks!

The two loan signings must be the worst we have ever had. Why can we not get a Jason Roberts, Keiffer Moore, Dean Sturridge or Jim Fryatt???

Our recruitment is left to Garys brother - is that the best we can do? His record is not great and got his sibling the sack at Yeovil.

Unless things improve quickly, we will be the laughing stock of not just our League but ALL Leagues, losing an eleven point lead since New Years Day.

TUST Updates

The two Clubs that did not vote will not be enough to swing the result, so there votes were not recorded or indeed required now.

Let us just crack on and finish the season. Any Club failing to comply should have sanctions brought against them, points and ultimately demotion. If they do not want to play with the big boys in a professional League, let them go to the regional division. With the greatest respect, they are dire.

Just glad Gary got us out at the first attempt....or we would still be there. :scarf:
