Hereford v Torquay United 3pm 13th January 2024 FATrophy
Well, well, well.
Just as well Hereford did not have their two main strikers available as the score would have been very embarrassing.
I did warn that Hereford were no mugs, interestingly Hereford fans in the pub were concerned that they would not score, a 0-0 prediction was going around. I did point out that we always give away a goal in any game.
I have been considering if this was the worst performance I have seen since I started following United in October 1966, a defeat away at Peterborough comes to mind, even the dreaded 6-0 Boxing Day defeat at you know where, perhaps in time I will forget some of the following: lack of basic skill beyond a simple error, the blaming of others, lack of team ethos, how easily heads dropped, ……….
Perhaps my comments as a follower, rather than regular supporter these days may be hard but that performance was unacceptable.
How Mark Halstead sleeps at night knowing 1 error behind that midfield (and defence) and we are in trouble. Dean Moxey probably can not believe what he is seeing at times from a professional outfit. Ross Marshall, although a committed player is not a right back, Hereford exploited that together with the lack of support in front of him, disallowed goal - we would be thinking wtf if that had been us. Midfield, lightweight and no ability to pick up the scraps, Hereford must have won over 75% of balls coming off defensive headers. Archie Harris came to us to learn, well I hope he learns fast as he had a covering defender and goalkeeper for the penalty he gave away. Yes he was well beaten but do not make it worse by giving it away, goals are generally as a result of two errors not one.
Sorry to go on but I am not happy, my concern is that I will get more sympathy from my Hereford supporting acquaintances than the usual banter!

Hereford v Torquay United 3pm 13th January 2024 FATrophy
Nobody has started a tread for this game yet, perhaps it could be considered the least important game for the rest of this season or no points to be gained in the prediction league!
Anyway, for those traveling, welcome to Herefordshire, be aware that Hereford does not have a bypass so all traffic flows through Hereford so make sure you allow enough time.
I visited here for our last game, the 3-2 loss, now a retired resident I am not looking forward to the grief I will be getting after Saturday, We will going in to this game as under dogs, until last Saturday Hereford were on an excellent run.
Hereford born striker Andy Williams returned this year after playing for various lower football league teams. He was injured in preseason, and only started playing late last year, sounds familiar, as Hereford shot up the table. Earlier in the season Hereford could not score goals, although were difficult to beat.
After a number of victories, a home 1-1 draw with Gloucester in front of a 4,516 crowd after Williams went off at half time with Hereford 1-0 up, followed by a 3-0 defeat at Scarborough after a dubious sending off.
I do not think we will risk starting any players back from injury, May be 15 minutes at the end so personally I think we are going in as underdogs for this game, play like we have in parts of many game’s recently and we will get well beaten.
My heart hope we get a draw and go through on penalties, my head says 3-1 loss

After much disagreement with myself, I am going for

A few observations:
If a player / representative wants out it will happen, these days the power lies with the player
Why would we stand in the way of Shaun leaving, not a key player, it enhances our reputation for players joining in future.
We know if a player does not buy in to GJ methods or is not committed, he is out for a least a period of time or all together.
Why would we as disclose any fee if we have somebody else on our radar the price will go up.
Given the player has not been playing, apparently be agreement, it is likely any fee would take that in to account.
Mix these up and we will have an undisclosed fee and wages available for January signings/loans.

Slightly split as Weymouth appear to be draw specialist, and with questionable availability and weather I am tempted to go for a draw however my heart says no we are showing signs of being a team on the move upwards.

Perhaps worth a few reviewing comments made about a player, unseen at the time, now sorry to see him go.
What ever you think about the manager, support the player.

Which do I think will come out on top, plastic v reaction to Saturday?
I going with the reaction to Saturday’s pathetic display
Eastbourne 1 United 3
Heart over head yet again…..you would have thought I would’ve learned by now.
