Squad 2024/25

https://www.theposh.com/news/dreyer-joi ... -21s-group

Small piece on him when signed for the posh, looks like someone with a lot of potential and a handful of games last season in this league.

Potential Buyers

Think it’s absolutely mental that we don’t even know who the preferred bidder is and yet we have people already slagging off the rumours or suggesting we don’t want this or that. CO is gone and if he didn’t get his way with the ground the next man won’t either.

I’m just glad we had a preferred bidder and if that falls through then I’m sure the TUST & consortium will still take over.

Potential Buyers

Good news, hopefully!

Seeing as they like to still remain anonymous, that would mean that it won’t be the TUST.

Please please don’t let it be Edwards.

Torquay United v Yeovil Town, Tues 7th Nov, 7:45pm

First game I’ve managed to make this season, due to my own playing commitments.

The first… 6 minutes maybe were great.. I thought some of comments being banded around were over the top but they’re really not at all. I feel sorry for a lot of our players, they’re better than this, but this is the first match I’ve seen in about 6 years where I haven’t been able to make out what formation we are actually playing. Individually I think we do have some very good players especially for this level, but oh my why are we making so hard for ourselves.

It’s hard to criticise any individual other than Johnson at this point. There isn’t really much else you need to say, we could have at least tried to have a game plan. Minus a great streak from mcgavin and some poor finishing were very lucky it wasn’t 6 or 7. We have to be better at than this

Of course I am happy we won but jeez we make bloody hard work of it.

As for experienced manager .....other managers are available !!
Since when has seale hayne been plastic?

Some of us really need to get over the fact we’ve been relegated, months ago now, enjoy another away win and focus on hopefully another 3pts Monday.

New Signings for the 2023-2024 Season

Lewis Collins has signed and what a signing that is! Looking like we are going to start next season with a better squad than we started with last year if we can continue this way.

New Signings for the 2023-2024 Season

At this moment in time we’re going into next season with a solid goalkeeper, a proper winger and 2 proven goal scorers. Add to that moxey lapslie and asa although not always available, definitely better than NLS. Out of the ‘squad players’ I think 1 or 2 are gonna turn it around this year but that’s me being optimistic, Crowe and Mcgavin are my picks. Let’s see who else signs along with a couple good loans and we may just be starting this season with a better squad than we started last year.

New Signings for the 2023-2024 Season

Confirmed. Bradley ash has joined United.

Scored quite a few in a struggling side last year in this league, let’s hope he can continue like that… without the struggling side part of course

Players Under Contract

brucie wrote: 12 May 2023, 13:57 Facebook rumour that Jarvis is talking to Newport.
Posted by paco, everything he puts up is crap looking for bites, is quite funny sometimes but obviously isn’t true. A quick Twitter search and look through the fan forum of theirs and not a single post. However did find some suggesting chesterfield had interest, personally I think Jarvis stays but we will just have to wait and see.

Players Under Contract

I’d be very surprised if lapslie and Halstead didn’t have offers from NL clubs, or at least been spoken too, I’d also be very surprised if both took a pay cut, does this suggest we might have a decent budget? Or spend what we have on proven players, build a smaller squad and fill the gaps with a few loans

Excellent news!! What a start, I know it’s more of a dream but with Jarvis hopefully staying, stobbs and sparkes offered deals, we could be starting next season with a much much stronger side than last year.

brucie wrote: 25 Apr 2023, 14:37 Oh god here we go - another idiot in Courtier Gull. We will have little hold over Jarvis. He maybe under contract but it will be impossible to keep him if he wants to go.

Halstead will be the best keeper in the league - Are you having a laugh?

Stobbs - we've got no chance of keeping him. Mcgavin? - **** me he cant run

Hanson - he cant run or play football.

As for Johnson - read the latest article on Torquay Talk, look at the stats - relegation could easily have been avoided if the manager had done his job properly.
Pointless argument and an unnecessary ‘idiot’ considering some of the absolute drivel you’ve spouted over the years, jarvis wants to leave or not, a team will have to pay for him, simply what I said. Halsteads proven time and time again he’s good enough for this league, and played a lot higher so why wouldn’t he be? Stobbs would be hopeful but Oldham don’t want him and his contracts up.

As for hanson and mcgavin, we’ve seen young players be crucified like this and turn into gems, Cameron and Reid for example. Hanson I don’t have as much hope for but Brett clearly has ability and if you deny that then you haven’t seen him on the ball.

I’d also rather we start without Johnson, but not going to kick off if he stays.

Players Under Contract

Personally feel that we’ll see a few of these players prove a lot of us wrong next season. Mcgavin had a great pre season and was tipped by many to be POTS but we all know how that ended up but at his age and in a league below he has the ability to be one of the better players in the division. Crowe Donnellan and Hanson are another 3 that are young and can only improve… surely?

Will Jarvis stay? If not a team will have to pay for him. Halstead has moved his family down here and he may well be the best keeper in the south next year. Moyse has to be given a go as well. This summer is massive, we messed up big time by signing no wingers, if we could keep stobbs along with a fair few of what we already have I’d be quite confident we go back up first time, with or without GJ.

At least we are staying full time. Shame it’s taken such a terrible season for him to finally say something, although there’s a lot of words nothing has really been said.

PLAYERS CONTRACTS FOR NEXT SEASON.

thebigp1 wrote: 26 Mar 2023, 22:20 I may get slated for this but I don’t actually think McGavin and Hanson are that bad. I think our style of play (long ball) suits neither, particularly McGavin. Marshall is a poor defender imo and simply not good enough. Crowe again doesn’t look up to it although I can’t quite work out what’s gone wrong with him given his pedigree as a youth player. Jarvis has been the best of our signings but I can’t imagine he wants to be knocking around NLS.

I think the problem with our recruitment has been we signed several players hoping they might turn out to be ‘marquee’ players. There doesn’t seem to have been any thought about signing players that could be moulded in a team. What level of thought went into identify weak areas of the squad and targeting key positions? Our scattergun approach to recruitment this season is one of the main reasons we are where we are.
We are probably in the minority here, but I have to agree re Hanson and mcgavin, especially mcgavin who for me at times has certainly showed he has ability and I think would look a lot better in a side that focuses on passing the ball, the game bypasses him and one downside for him is he isn’t the fastest or the best tackler and that’s definitely been exposed.

I see a lot of people saying we need a complete overhaul, personally I think with a different manager we have a squad that should be good enough to be at the top of the NLS. If we’d of signed 3 or 4 wingers in pre season and didn’t continue to persist with the stupid 352 formation I think we’d be a lot higher up the table, but that means nothing now.

Assuming they want to say, Halstead Jarvis Lapslie are the best we have got. After that I’d like us to keep Martin(if he’s fit) Moxey(if he’s got another season in him) Wyatt (had a poor season but has done it before for Sutton)
Then there’s players with potential that I think could be good enough under the right management like Crowe, Mcgavin, Donnellan, Hanson, Moyse and Tomlinson are another 2. I don’t think the rest warrant another year and would probably struggle to get a good deal elsewhere.
