Torquay United v Harrogate Town 7/9/19

Omg, this lot are a frustrating bunch , at halftime I seriously thought 'here we go again' then it was a story of 2 players Kalvin Kalala's genius & Jon Steads stupidity.
I know which one I'd rather have in my side.
Well done lads , but by christ you do frustrate me.

I apologise for my spelling & grammatical sloppiness in my last post, but, as I was composing it the smog of disappointment was slowly but surely descending through my mind & into the keyboard !
That's how pissed off I am about it.

Torquay United v Hartlepool United 31/8/19

Now having had 18 hours to digest the latest let down at home it has become apparent to me that we lack the tenacity, guile, strength & experience to win games at this level.
It's all very well playing teams off the park for 45 minutes with pretty football but with the lack of know how throughput the team we're always going to concede sloppy goals.
It was our full time fitness that got us over the line last season, & in a very poor league at that, it must be said.
This season it's a very different story indeed, celery other team in this league has savvy layers that have done it all before, they know how to win games most of the time it ain't pretty, but this is a results driven business & punters want to see a winning team in their colours.
I get the fact were in the 'entertainment ' business & Paul Buckle got the mix just about right with the no nonsense up & at 'em, take no prisoners approach. At the moment we are a soft touch, we have a weak underbelly that the opposition know can & will be exploited, and to keep banging on about being early in the season & patience is needed is a futile exercise, seven GJ came in last September he immediately identified the weakest areas of the squad & made changes straight away - well same again then please GJ.
There are obvious members of our squad that quite clearly cannot cut the mustard, successful teams that rise to through the league's rarely keep the same players that got them there & as I've said before ' horses for courses ' that's what's required, to the squad that got us up last season, I say once again a big thank you, but it you can't hack it at this level then it's time to move on sentiment doesn't come in to it unfortunately.

Sat in the car contemplating in how weak we seem to be , bullied in every dept today.
We will lucky to be half way come seasons end at this rate and you can all spout your tripe about being early in the season still, it's happening all to often, pretty football but no backbone I'm afraid, experience drastically needed.
We will get get all at Wanking on tues, history says we never do.

Barnet v Torquay United 26/08/19

dannyrvtufc4life wrote: 27 Aug 2019, 10:04 Decided to take the trip up to Barnet yesterday. I think there's a common theme; we were simply brilliant in the first half. We had great shape, great movement and scored two very good goals, Little's being a cracker! It looked like we were going to win by 3 or 4! However, the second half came and a silly early mistake by Cameron cost us. It was obvious from that point onwards that the boys would sit back, soak up pressure and eventually Barnet would score. The heat made it very difficult to chase the ball and defend for 45 minutes. We were a bit unlucky with their second, but a draw was a fair result, no matter how frustrating it came about.

I hate to get on at players or the team in general, but Keating offers nothing to this team. To be fair to him, playing him on the wing is a bit like playing Reidy on the wing. I don't mind Keating coming on for the last 10 up the top putting pressure on defenders, but for him to be a replacement for Kalala is ridiculous. GJ may have wanted to display some old school nonsense to Kalvin because he wasn't doing enough, but he is certainly a bigger threat than Keating. Overall, a poor substitution, in my opinion. In order for Reid to be effective, he needs service, he won't get that from Keating.

Having said all of that, I would have taken a point before the game started, we go again on Saturday at home. Draw the away ones, win the home ones and we'll be up there.

As long as we can turn Plainmoor into a place the opposition gets absolutely nothing, we'll be there or there abouts I feel.
However, as Southampton Dave correctly says, an experienced centre half along side Kyle would, more than likely, stop the majority of the silly mistakes occurring.
We will, & have already, get the odd crappy result @ home, even the likes of Man city do from time to time but stick to our guns & it'll be just fine.

CP Gull wrote: 26 Aug 2019, 22:22 It’s simple..... we are great going forward and will score lots of goals ..... but we are just not strong enough defensively. We will continue to leak goals with this defence. I have no doubt Gary realises that and will make the necessary adjustments. A couple of experienced “old heads” at the back is all we need in my opinion.
With the risk of sounding repetitive...
We need some experience at the back, pronto..

I suspect the same thing'll happen again this year, don't forget they're still a part-time team.

Just can't believe our luck in having the privilege of Connor still pulling on the yellow jersey.
You should be proud, how on earth is he still at this level ?

If my clan is anything to go by, out of the 4 of us who attend home matches week in week out, none of us have BT sport anyway & don't have any affiliation to any premier league clubs either, it's Tufc through & through for us.
And you can't beat being there live, can you ?

No I'm a loud advocate of horses for courses & we are well short of the experience I feel we need to be able to game manage successfully, but, if someone can come in & make Asa's position his own then I'm happy to eat humble pie.
How's that hypocritical?
I'd rather be proved wrong with our current squads ability to steer the ship through tough periods of play, but I still have reservations.
If that's hypocritical then so be it.

We can all see the blindingly bloody obvious, sometimes taking a player who's struggling, no matter how talented he is, out of the firing line will do far more good than leaving him in & continuing to be exposed.
We chuck out advice because we DO care about our team & want the best for all of us.
If you feel that's not getting behind our team then we should all go home & pack up.

Trouble is he's not a full back, & it doesn't matter how well he deputised Davis IS a full back & more accustomed to the ways & whys of the intricacies of the position.
