The standard of football this season has been appalling. We have never really dominated games, have created few scoring chances, have looked weak in many areas and have failed to address problems as the season has progressed. Just where do we go from here??

Players only come to Torquay for rehabilitation!

Underwhelming?

Johnson is dangling the carrot of players expected back from injury in 2-4 weeks simply to avoid making any further (?unaffordable) signings. The problem is that injured players may not necessarily be fully fit when returning to the squad and of course there is the distinct possibility of new injuries occurring amongst the squad. We are simply not prepared to meet a promotion challenge without a decent sized squad that has a range of player options. We will perhaps, be fortunate to finish above mid-table.

Suspect we will need a load of under 18s to fill the bench ?

If Johnson stays it will be more of the same, season after season after season. Is that what we should all wish for? Nothing against the man but he has had is time. If all clubs retained their managers there would never be any sackings, there would be little opportunities for aspiring managers!

The most annoying factor regarding standards in the pitch should be attributed to GJ for failing to recruit, train, develop and motivate players to the standard one should expect from a full time cohort. No doubt there are some talented footballers in the squad but they have never really been assisted to exhibit their skills through being out with injury, being played out of position, being part of a team that is constantly chopped and changed. We need consistency and confidence which is currently not the case.

I went to Chelmsford and was hoping to witness a continued revival but actually saw a dreary game in which we were second best. Such a shame after the earlier results, this was a chance to consolidate our position but ended up faltering. Yes, we may get some more midfielders back after injury although we could still do with a dominant strong centre half, a decent orthodox left back and right back as we as a big unit up front. We all know recruitment has been lacking and no doubt the likelihood of bringing in some solid players is not going to happen. More likely we will continue to flatter to deceive through a few steps forward mixed with a few steps backward. Net result, failure to get promotion even through the playoffs.

Hoping for a decent performance and win! Hope all supporters have a cheering day. Win the next couple and we are back in the mix, fail and doubts will return!

No doubt Uncle Clarke will make funds available for a replacement (or not)!

Well, they played a lot better than last Saturday. Can only hope the form continues and Tonbridge are outplayed this coming weekend. There needs to be consistency of decent performances not dross. There is still a long way to go for there to be a creditable challenge for a promotion spot.

Suspect a scrappy Torquay win that will prolong Johnson’s tenure for a few more days.
