TUFC 2017/18 Squad

It all looks rather promising. We are still a few first team players light, and I would expect that the remaining 'reserve' positions will be filled by the odd loanee and trialist. I see in the Herald that we are still interested in Reid, and if we have the budget then that seems a no-brainer, but hopefully not instead of a first choice target man to build the team around.

Hillsborough Verdicts

EmetEdadsBeard wrote: 28 Jun 2017, 20:33 When you think beyond the media crapping themselves because of the myth that ALL Liverpool fans are ALL totally innocent and ALL turned up with tickets, in plenty of time and formed an orderly queue then you may realise that the one of the biggest cover ups is the behaviour of the media's favourites, those jolly Scousers.
This is the bit that got me, you have to be a parody account right?

Hillsborough Verdicts

Am I missing something here? The fans have been completely exonerated. The inquests, through painstaking inquiry have found that the actions of the fans had nothing to do with the outcome. Absolutely nothing.

The "good lord" was in reference to your completely ignorant view of the situation.

Hillsborough Verdicts

EmetEdadsBeard wrote: 28 Jun 2017, 18:06 Absolute b0ll0cks. Without this they've no one to claim compo off. Nothing will bring the dead back so why have we had 28 years of it being rammed down our throats, they just wont let it rest.
Ever noticed that Valley Parade, Ibrox and more notably Heysel are rarely mentioned? No second enquiries, no Justice campaign, no decades of looking for a body to blame.
Wonder what would happen if the Heysel victims families sued Victimpool FC for the behaviour of their fans?
Good lord...

Exeter playoff

brucie wrote: 23 May 2017, 09:56 I'm not sure whether you support Eastleigh or Torquay. You conveniently choose to ignore that they are still bankrolled by an owner who ploughs substantial amounts into their club.

As such it is impossible to make a comparison with us because we are being run by numptys and could hardly fill a subs bench this season. I don't understand the comparison you make between the managers at all. Hill got the sack and Allen has been hopeless. They finished four points above us with an equal goal difference of -7. I don't see how that makes them any better than us on the field at all.

In fact you might argue that Nicholson has done a better job than Hill or Allen on the resources he has at his disposal. In spite of what you say Eastleigh were a laughing stock at times this season their form was that bad.

Potentially our crowds could be on a par with theirs because our crowd of 4000 at the last game just shows that to be the case. If Eastleigh were run by Dave Phillips, Clarke Osborne and co I wonder what their crowds would be then - probably something less than a 1000 I guess.

Its not a question of mocking their league position - they have more resources than us in terms of budget etc etc and have failed spectacularly this season. There isn't anything idiotic about that at all. In January and February this year they managed a total of ZERO wins. They are obviously doing something wrong.

Paying big money to donkeys who would be better employed trundling up and down Paignton beach just goes to show that it isn't a route to success. Reid, Strevens, Tubbs, McAllister, Constable - all over the hill, just backed up by their results on the field.

Ronald Huth

He was very good, I have to say. Timed his challenges well consistently throughout the game, and did his best with the distribution in tough conditions.

Honest Opinion - and a bit of fun!

GoodringtonGull wrote:Hi All,
Been reading the forums for a while now, but seeing as the new season is only around the corner I'd actually bother to create an account!

For a bit if fun, I thought I'd see what fans think the result would be if we compared both last seasons opening lineup vs the possible lineup this season for the game against Macclesfield.

Speiss - Moore Better
Butler - LRT Worse
Hurst - Verma Worse
Geohaghon - Mcginty Probably Better
Smith - Gerring Worse
Macdonald - Lathrope Not really comparable
Fenwick - Young Better (by a fair amount)
Carmichael - Chaney Worse
Murombedzi - Sparkes Better
Fisher - Williams Better
Quigley - Blissett Better

Honest opinions please :scarf:
My direct comparisons. So a slight improvement then if everyone plays as expected. Not bad considering we are yet to finish the summer window. Question marks over the defence of course, but I must ask - where has Angus gone?

Torquay are currently 2-0 up. Williams with a penalty, followed by a goal from Chaney. Almost half an hour gone.

Sean Mcginty signs

Southampton Gull wrote:
You sound like his Dad ;-)
I wouldn't mind if he was actually - I'm sure his Dad appreciates that he's made mistakes in the past but knows he is young enough to turn it around and have a fantastic career. If he's right and has learnt from his mistakes, then that's good enough for me.

As he said, if he gets a chance and confidence is given to him then he could become a very good player. Nico seems like a really good manager to take a player under his wing, I can see him doing that with Sean. You don't get the moves that he got at a young age unless you're talented, he clearly just needs a bit of support and trust.

Angus and Sean could be a really really good centre back partnership - I would have like a more experienced partner for Gus but I trust Nico's guidance.

EDIT: Just found a little Q&A session with him while he was at Aldershot. Speaks very well about being a professional footballer and parts of his career, might be worth a read if anyone hasn't. http://www.theshots.co.uk/sean-mcginty-qa/

LRT returns - confirmed

I'm fine by this. Maybe not the most talented player but a physically imperious player. The real question is what the configuration of McGinty and LRT is. McGinty LB and LRT CB seems to be what other fans our telling us.

Sean Mcginty signs

Richinns wrote: Seems like the budget might be wearing thin now (which is to be expected with the players already recruited and the budget provided).

Now I am confused! Rowe Turner is a left back yes? so either we have signed 2 (and have 3 on the books) or Mcginty will play as centre back?!
I believe that LRT became more of a centre-back after he left. I'm pretty sure that's where he played against us a few times?
