National League Weymouth v Torquay United 28/12/20 3pm KO

Didn't see the game as I had to work today. There seams to be quite a lot of criticism of Seam McDonald. In actual fact, I thought he had a shaky game against Yeovil even though he didn't have a lot to do. His handling, especially in the second half was suspect. I remember him almost gifting a couple of goals. I also thought he was slow off his line on occasions.
Does he need a rest?

Home attendances

Can the shortfall be accounted to just season ticket holders not attending? I'm not so sure.
I bought my tickets for the last 2 home games fairly late and was told on the phone both times there were plenty of tickets still available. I think part of the problem is the ability of getting groups of tickets in the same area of the ground. For example, on both occasions I wanted 3 tickets but there was no choice. If I only wanted 1 or 2 tickets then there were a lot more available.
My point is, should groups not be able to sit or stand together then they probably wouldn't bother.
Certainly no easy solution to this.

Boxing Day Fixture v Yeovil Town FC

A thoroughly convincing display. Worried about Wright and Littles injuries though. Yeovil were exceptionally poor and on that evidence they must be relegation candidates. Their goalkeepers display was as bad as I've seen for sometime. He was responsible for at least 3 of our goals.
I thought Moxey, Randall and Nemane were on their game today. Cameron wasn't at his best and his distribution needs improving.
Crowd was 1320 although it looked more than that.

I totally agree Brewers Boy, a great posting. I wouldn't go to Huish Park under any circumstances. Like you, I hope we stuff them.

Happy Christmas

Have a great Christmas everyone and keep safe.
COVID allowing, it's going to be an exciting second half to the season. It will be really interesting to see who comes in and who leaves in January.
'm really looking forward to the game on Boxing day. I've got tickets in the away end. I haven't stood in that part of the ground, probably for over 20 years.

gateman49 wrote: 09 Dec 2020, 10:20 And I thought that the stewards were selling raffle tickets!

Yes, even I can't take a flask despite being on duty for an hour and half before the match even starts. Two flasks were impounded just in front of me but, unlike in the dark days, it was done with a light touch and with good humour (the owners were offered the chance to drink the contents while the admin was being done and raffle tickets were being taped to the flasks).

It's a small price to pay for having you all back.
It must of been me sitting in front of you Gateman as I were offered to drink up before the flask was impounded.
I have to say it was handled very well, I have no issues with that. The Steward was probably a little embarrassed if anything.
I didn't know the rule so will learn for next time. When I went to get my flask back there was a box full of them so plenty of others didn't realise either.
Just looked at the table and were in a great position. Who does everyone think will be our main challengers? I think Stockport. They are a little behind but do have games in hand.

National League Torquay United v Maidenhead United Tue 8 Dec 2020 19:45 KO

The first half performance was as good as I've seen in a number of years. We were energetic, bright and moved the ball at pace. Maidenhead were big and physical but they really couldnt cope. The only disappointment was scoring a single goal before half time. Although it was a great lob from Whitfueld on the edge if the area.
The second half was a little different. Although we again started brightly. Their keeper made an incredible double save in the first minute. After that it was a little scrappy although we were still reasonably controlling the game.
When we got the second it should have been game over. The final 10 mins was a little nervy. Last season we would have conceded a second. We look a totally different team, playing with confidence.
The club really did manage the COVID situation much better than I was expecting so credit where it is due. I would encourage anyone that hasnt been back yet to give it a go.
The crowd was a little disappointing but it was a bitterly cold night. My only grumpy was that the stewards took my flask of coffee from me. Apparently club rules (although you are allowed to take in bottles of pop) - work that one out!!!

Tickets for tomorrow’s games

Can anyone help? I've been trying to book tickets for Maidenhead game on the website for myself and my 2 boys. It is trying to charge me full price for the lads which i am not prepared to do.
Is there anyone that has bought children's tickets online that can tell me how to change the ticket type? Thankyou

culmstockgull wrote: 01 Dec 2020, 22:04 Southampton gull is being generous and saying a hard fought win, Corners and free kicks in the final third for us were in the high 20's and converted into less than a handful of chances,we did not win hardly any second balls all night,I hope Wright's halftime substitution was tactical as opposed to another injury. Hall and whitfield were on their knees come the final whistle. Waters looked sharp.so did Cameron, someone please remind him he is a centre half, Randell came very close to getting sent off two games running and I am glad Johnson replaced him.Hard fought maybe but we need to sharpen up bigtime.
Gary Johnson said that Wright was taken off at half time because he been I'll for a few days in the lead up to the game. It looks like it was a precaution.

Ex-Gull watch

Opi Edward's playing for Bristol City today against Reading. I didn't think he had that sort of ability. Then again, we hardly saw him as he was always injured. I do remember him being very quick though.

The return of fans

The club are doing much better on the pitch and heading in the right direction. But what still hasnt improved is communication with supporters. I've probably said before, I wasn't contacted about renewing my season ticket so I didn't bother.
