I'm sure this isn't giving anything away Mr Candy - but I just saw Zema Abbey and Leon Constantine walking along Torquay sea front ... but Sssshhhh - don't let anyone else know!

Re: Ideas for Mr Candy
Not so Mr Candy - the TUST had not been born when the 8 Nettist Matches took place (1999-2007)A Candy wrote:I think the nettist matches were organised by the TUST or some other supporters group.
They were organised independently by a staunch group of supporters known as 'The Nettists' and consisted of just 4 teams.
I am sure Scott Brehaut can tell you more!

Justin Fashanu
For those ‘older’ users of this forum, there is a new book out covering the life and times of the late Justin Fashanu, who played for the Gulls during 1991-93, making 41 appearances
Two chapters are dedicated to his spell with Torquay United, with over 100 people having been interviewed to help form the basis of the book.

The Old Yellow Brick Wall
Many thanks for the replies. I think AlexGulls is referring to a different set used for fund raising, but CP Gull seems to be referring to the ones I am thinking of.
Thank you for your help.

The Old Yellow Brick Wall
Just found this document online:
http://www.gloucestergulls.co.uk/Torqua ... d%20FC.pdf
- and on page 7 underneath the ground plan it refers to:
On the spectator side of the wall at the front of the Family Stand is the “Yellowbrick Wallâ€, a series of engraved
plaques that have been purchased by supporters.
Are these plaques still in existence does anyone know?

I wouldn't think so now - everyone is too old to play and have moved on in life!ferrarilover wrote:Could it be resurrected?

It was the "nettists" match. Four teams made up of fans and a couple of first teamers. Won a trophy at the end of it....ran for three or four seasons, and always at Easter.
It actually ran for 8 seasons Scott, started in the centenary year (Wes Saunders era) for the DotCom Trophy - and raised a total of just over £15,000 for the Club via match contributions/fees, raffles & sponsorships!
The money raised purchased material items for the Club ... nets, goals, sprinklers & water-hogs to name a few.
