Full time V Part Time

New accounts have been published for the club. Whether or not we end up as a part time outfit or full time still i can't see how having 72 employees of the club (incl playing staff) is sustainable given our current standing. Majority of these of course will be non playing staff who no doubt work full time but for any company operating at such a loss as we have been I think any sane owner/CEO would look at this and question it. Comparing it to a team like Chelmsford who have operated at this level for a long time the total employees number is 28!

We really do need a full reset everywhere, watching the game yesterday and i think most will agree this is probably the worst TUFC side most of us have seen in our lifetimes.

Completely agree with admiral, some section of our fanbase seem to be totally blasé and have a head in the sand mentality about what is happening here. It’s admirable of the TUST to try and organise something to try to at least force the owners hand. The on the pitch product is proving a distraction of course, GJ taking the brunt of it and so he should for his complete incompetence, dinosaur football and vilifying the fans. This all happening whilst the so called money men work in the background to see the clubs demise.

I’ve seen and heard a lot of fans talk about next season we’ll have a different team, different manager etc but there is seriously a possibility where there isn’t any of that next season let alone a ground for them to play in. We have to mobilise now and get answers as this is our club not theirs.

Company accounts will be due in a couple of months and it will be interesting to see how much deeper the hole is that these crooks have put us in. -7m is my prediction.

Sorry for the preach, it’s just a little heartbreaking looking back at all the joy Torquay United has bought to many down the year including myself and how much of a state the football club finds itself in! Remember Football – Fans = Nothing. As always, COYY.!

Enjoyable to see that a simple companies house search shows GE & CO running a company calls BS estates, are they trying to hide in plain sight?. I think by the shear amount of companies they are involved in who seem to be incredibly secret in what they actually do is enough to make any fan worry. Seeing that the club has for a while been owned by a riviera stadium limited with a director that there’s never been a mention of and for whom we owe a load of money has to make even the most naive supporter start to wonder if we are just being run into the ground for the purpose of real estate.

GARY JOHNSON

Brewers boy wrote: 14 Aug 2023, 10:25 It's not the recruitment. We have some good talented players. It's the tactics. Constant hoofing the ball upfield to the oppositions defence to allow them to come back at us with the ball on the ground. Saturday was a perfect lesson on how to play football. Just what does go on on the training ground?
Completely agree with this. Excuse the ignorance of not being 100% sure on how part time football works in the modern day but my guess is a team like Worthing trains probably 2 or 3 evenings a week and they seemed to have a clear way of playing, a tactic the players clearly knew and were no doubt able to do there homework on some of our better players thus keeping the likes of Jarvy, Collins & Ash quiet for long periods. Flip that to a team that trains 4/5 times a week for hours at a time (of course depending on midweek games etc) it's mind numbing to see the lack of a plan, lack of a tactical shape or way of playing and not even have one free kick or set piece routine apart from lumping it in the box when we get one?! Do Downes and Johnson just get the players to do laps whilst they do a quick google search of the opposition and then play a bit of "who can kick the ball the furthest?"

Football has moved on it just seems at the moment our management team have been left in the footballing stone age.

The future of Torquay United

I see that accounts for CO's companies are starting to be released and just came across this Riviera stadium limited company when having a browse. Interesting reading on the final page of their unaudited abridged (whatever that means) accounts that the amount now owed to this stadium company from the club sits at just above £3.5m quid. Difficult to decipher all of these differing figures considering CO has his fingers in many different companies but it will be interesting when accounts for this year come from the club what the financial health really looks like! To be seen if the what we think will happen and we are relegated to the NLS at the end of this season, if all of this stadium debacle goes away, of CO finally provides some clarity on what the heck is going on behind the scenes at our wonderful football club :-/

Fans living outside of Torbay - where are you?

North Bristol, usually travel to games on my own... if there's a group being organised up this way more than happy to join!
