Famous Bands from Torbay
None of the three mentioned are from Torbay lolBehind-the-Gulls wrote: 27 Sep 2013, 09:52 The news that members/former members of Wishbone Ash were in dispute over copyright issues got me thinking about other bands/musicians from Torbay who had made it big in the past-or currently. Unfortunately there seems to be very few-despite Muse(Teignmouth),Ben Howard(Totnes),and Joseph Mount/Metronomy(Totnes),doing so well in recent times. There's a fair few who've had a good go at being successful-but none ever seem to quite make the big-time.The Nightporters for instance, are very successful abroad, but not so popular in this country(though they have a solid following),but are now splitting anyway, going the way it seems of a lot of other local bands who can't make a real break through after showing the potential to do so.
Best prospects at the moment seem to be Those Reigning Days, who I've seen a couple of times and seem to me to have what it takes to make it.
There's a few others as well and a half decent local music scene at present with a few venues offering the chance for local bands to make a name for themselves and build a following. To many venues though mainly put on so-called "tribute bands";few of whom are very good, and who of course rely completely on old material, rehashed -rather than original song-writing.
Hopefully Torbay will one day find a Muse or Coldplay though-it would be great for the area and long overdue!

SOS call to all Torquay supporters..
My take on this is promoting a product. Promoting this product to the kids. As a child I used to love going to Plainmoor to see my idols play and at the end of the game running onto the pitch match program in hand to get it signed by the players. I still have them including a Lee Sharpe signed program from that famous Newport game. I can remember Kenny Allen talking to us during the game as fetched the ball behind his goal. These things are a huge part of being a child. I supported MUFC too and was fortunate enough to go watch them a fair few times a season but those player you could not get to see all the time. Torquay needs to get to the schools and get the kids involved. A good dad will take his kid to see them game. The players need to be involved with the youth of the area.

Goodbye Football League....Hello Conference
Such a good accurate review, Who's Ladibie"s parent club?Neal wrote:I DONT CARE IF I GET SLAGGED OFF BUT THAT ANALYSIS OF OUR SQUAD IS RIDICULOUS.
We are adrift at the bottom of league 2 but we have a good team, total rubbish.
Heres a more realistic summing up (in my opinion obviously)
Poke - League 2 level
Rice - League 2 level now
Tonge - League 2 level just - Dont care if he was a regular at Rotherham in the past, he isnt that great with us
Pearce - Very good - league 2 level easily, will probably want to move on if we get relegated, why would he want to stay?
Downes - Very good - league 2 level easily, will probably want to move on if we get relegated, why would he want to stay?
Nico - Conference level now
Cruise - Conference south level
OConnor - Very good - league 2 level easily, will return to parent club
Mansell - Conference level now - Would keep him but on reduced wages
Lathrope - Good league 2 level
Harding - Awfull - Will be here next season becuase his probably on good money and no one will want him
Labadie - Very good - league 2 level easily, will return to parent club
Craig - League 2 level
Bodin - League 2 level. will probably move on becuase I guess on high wages
Chappell - Conference level. overated by alot on here, NO END PRODUCT so no point
Cameron - Awfull -No end product so pointless
Thompson - Conference south
Hawley - Terrible one of the worst players to put on a Torquay shirt. Who cares what he did in the past. Hes our number 9, with a paultry number of goals. will be here next season becuase no one will want him and probably on good money.
Benyon -Conference
Yeoman - Conference south
Now that will provoke some debate, but its what I beleive!

Lee Rigby Killers sentenced
The only sentence that would fit them is life without parole plus having them fed nothing but pork and shower them in bacon fat and beating them with leather shoes.
