Our last boss would have blamed the boxes for being 'too square'.

Thankyou ' stevegull'

Honest Lingy

The BBC Sport Torquay site has a great report on Martins reaction to last nights defeat. He has basically slated the whole team(only 3/4 players performed), and those missing through injury/internationals should thank themselves lucky. It is this kind of reaction I admire him for. He says it how it is, not what PB would have said. On this basis do we think we will see a different line up on Saturday?, or is it a wake up call for those playing last night? Martin has also not ruled out Mackin or Stevens for Saturday.

Re: Before the moaners start.....

Couldnt agree more to the above comments, it was only last season we conceded 4 against Southampton and look how we performed the rest of the season. The season starts Saturday. At least no one got sent off or got injured.

Out of these injuries, as a fan I am not to concerned, the one thats looks possibly long term is Halpin who was never really in contention anyway, Nathan Graig may well have started from the bench aswell as macklin, so potentialy Stevens is the only damaging injury out of lot.
With that in mind, does anyone know the chances of Stevens and Macklin being fit for Fleetwood? :-/

Re: PSF: Torquay United v Stoke City 06/08/12

Getting the rare occasion to watch a match at plainmoor is always a joy, but hey so impressed with our performance. We passed at times I have never seen before. You can argue Stokes 2nd half side was their 'reserves' but so was ours to an extent. I have such so good fibes for Fleetwood and the forthcoming season. We spent our last night of our holiday in a different hotel, and was vacated by a few Stoke fans, they couldnt quite work out why a Torquay fan was staying in Torquay??? Until I explained my Wigan location, they to be honest said we where the hardest pre-season team they had played(and this guy has apparently been America on tour with them).

Other positives from last night:

Very very spacious leg room in the BB
Sort the PA in the BB
At times outplaying/competing against a full 11 Premiership side

Negatives

Took an age to get out of the BB at Full time
Stewards having to stand in the exits restricting the view of the match
Mega quere for half time refreshments

All in all a great night, see you all at Fleetwood, albeit closer to home

Re: Last seasons away followings - Impressive!!

Interesting that Bury/Rochdale take 1st/2nd spot and are located so near to most away matches. And yet Torquay 3rd and Carlisle 4th are Geographically are away from most. Just goes to show we have great fans and support. Wonder how many we take to Fleetwood?

Re: New Official Site

Horrible layout and feel, but I am sure we will sort it out having been given a dire template. The football league have designed it around advertisement not the club!! Does this suprise us.....eh..no.

O'Kane to Bournemouth CONFIRMED

I appreciate theres already a large thread on this saga, but would we begrudge him going Bournemouth, personally they are a decent side in L1 and have far more potential than Crawley so I cant see him turning them down. Just hope we have a good sell on clause and lets hope we have potential/decent names to replace him. Just hope he holds out until January

Re: Portsmouth in League 2 next season?

Looking like they wont be playing in any league. Their contracted players obviously dont give a **it about the club unlike the Plymouth bunch. Shame but we have to realise how lucky we are as a club in regards to structure, financial control and indeed loyalty. Who would take their place in L1, Cheltenham/Southend or Wycombe if they got liquidated?

Re: Goals you'll always remember.

I always remember going to Carlisle away in May 1993(i think), Duane darby scored the decisive goal and we hung on with a kitchen sink even being saved to secure our league status, the celebrations at the end where just brilliant, even the club doctor did handstands. I even remember being baracaded in a phone box by those cumbrian ???kers, but a great day regardless

1st day back

It literally seems light years ago since our playoff defeat. But with the 1st team back at training Thursday, you know the new season is around the corner. This season is full of hope and belief, just hope we face the cod army with no injuries. :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

Though friendlies often mean nothing come the new season, do you think we may play a different formation than last season, as we were caught out in the latter half of the season as we where so predictable, we have more depth so have the potential to change formation in matches.

Re: Chris McPhee - Formerly: Loan options

Good luck to the guy, but in reality we are glad hes gone. Sir Martin would not have got rid if he knew he had no plans in his promotion winning 2012/13 squad. I presume that means 2 more are needed to fill the jigsaw. COYY

Re: Fleetwood away - early thoughts and plans.

Definately going this one, albeit a 1 hour journey for me. Fleetwood is kind of a Morecambe in Location/town(ie not alot there). For those planning on a overnighter, Blackpool is the most viable place for a hotel/bb room, and simply get the tram to Fleetwood. Rooms just like Torquay will be at a premium as its the height of the tourist season(will be full of jocks). Very hard to predict score here despite the bookies having them massive favourites. My gut feeling is a draw, and that would be a good result in my opinion
