Braintree v Torquay Sat 17th Feb 2024

standupsitdown wrote: 16 Feb 2024, 20:49 We’re not going down. We’ve got virtually enough points to stay up already - and still have to play Taunton twice where we’ll surely get some points.

But more to the point, lose tomorrow and we’ll be between 5 and 8 points off the play offs (more likely 8), having played a game more.

So defers tomorrow and the season is virtually over - bar the protests.
Good post. Can’t see why some are predicting a clean sheet, but we can hope. Probably our only way of getting a point.

Message to the "protesters"

Same here.

**23rd March v Hampton & Richmond** - Big Protest Day

Regarding a phoenix type club, how much did it cost FC United of Manchester to set up etc? Anyone know?

Taunton Town v Torquay United TUE 13th

TommyGunn wrote: 14 Feb 2024, 11:49 I remember seeing Young boys play Man city in the champions league on plastic earlier this season. It seemed to play really well and if it's good enough for the champions league it should be good enough for league 2.

But maybe this sort of pitch costs a lot more? Or was it a hybrid pitch as you mentioned? I have never heard of hybrid before? Just shows how out of touch I am.
They even play Rugby on 3G now. They have improved. (Hartbury college held the regional U18 county championship rounds. 4 games each Sunday. No issues at all)

Braintree v Torquay Sat 17th Feb 2024

Skillsy wrote: 14 Feb 2024, 15:14 Bar Dawson and Stobbs, nearly all of the best players are now fit so injuries can no longer be used as an excuse for poor performances.
Nobody would expect me to predict anything else, so I'm going for a hard fought narrow victory.

Braintree 0 Torquay 1
Expect ASA and Tom to get injured in training/ warm up / early doors. Can’t see a Torquay win.

Braintree 3-1 Torquay

Worthing v Torquay United - Saturday 27th January 2024

standupsitdown wrote: 27 Jan 2024, 20:41 Exactly, the ref loved to brandish yellow cards so frustrating as she was, the players should have cut out the dissent as it made a red card likely.

Why did she make Marshall, who was injured, turn round and leave the pitch on the slightly nearer touchline, then have to limp all round the pitch, yet the game was stopped for far longer than the extra few seconds it would have taken to walk directly to the bench in order to make the substitution? Exercising a bit of common sense would gain her more respect.

And yes, no lack of effort, we just weren't good enough.

Just how low has Johnson’s pride sunk? Any decent manager/coach would recognise by now his time is up. Deluded or hanging on for a few more pay packets?

Hope we lose 10-0 if it means GJ gets the sack.

Predicting a 2-1 win though in front of the seasons smallest very quiet crowd.

All the players and Aaron came over and apologised to the fans. Ross fronted up well.

One of the worst performances I’ve ever seen in over 45 years. Plan A was shocking and no plan B. The fans have turned to a man. Johnson out is now a must.
