National League | Torquay United v Stockport County | 03/10/20 3pm KO

Nice coverage, but what a dire half of football. We look very vulnerable, started okay but Stockport have just forced their way on top.

Nice to see some little bits of gamesmanship from Jake Andrews, think Stockport have done similarly well against Umerah, he looks clumsy when he jumps and they've baited a booking for him well.

Think we need to change our plan up if we want to win this one, would like to see more people bursting forward in a passing counterattack rather than just lumping it up to our strikers...

Johnson out

Johnson is proven at this level, proven at getting teams promoted. He is the best manager we could ask for, remember that we are newly-promoted, you can forget all of your "but we're a massive club" stupidity, that's what got us into this non-league mess in the first place.

The fact that we even have people saying this, let alone others agreeing with it, makes me despair of how fickle, petty-minded and downright dumb some of our fan base are. Get real.

Don't like the nasty man saying hard truths on the internet? Tough.

madgull wrote: 17 Oct 2017, 23:07 I totally agree, he has that spark in him that teams long for, but - tellingly for the level he is at - he is incredibly frustrating to watch as he is a long way from the finished product. He reminds me of Theo Walcott; always seems to be in two minds about what he should do, he really needs to learn to just get the ball and say 'right, I'm gonna cut in and shoot' or 'I'm gonna beat him and cross'. We don't need him to be a miracle worker, just single-minded; look at players like Arjen Robben, you KNOW he is gonna cut inside and try to shoot or lay it off, he only really succeeds in a small number of attempts, but he gives the opposition a nightmare and pulls them out of position because he COMMITS to it.

I think he gets a lot of stick because he is in one of those positions that by nature are more likely to lose the ball; most positions can get away with playing the easy ball, but he will always stand out because he has to make the hard pass or the run. The right words in his ear and the right commitment to improving would get him a long way.
Turns out giving him the simple job was as effective as I said it would be! :)

That Jamie Reid is rubbish, he had one good season at National League South, he found his level, he'll never get goals in the National League...

If I recall correctly, the rule only applies to when a defender was the last man and brings down the attacker, and is adjudged to have made a genuine attempt to play the ball.

stefano wrote: 07 Jun 2019, 15:08 The result didn't matter in what was a jazzed up friendly but it was encouraging in that it showed we have nothing to fear from the Dutch so called golden generation over the next 10 years or so ;-)
If by "showed we have nothing to fear", you mean "got played off the park and could have been 5 or 6 down if Memphis Depay could finish and VAR gave the penalty for the Chilwell trip", then I totally agree! :)

We know the way GJ likes to set up & play, fast flowing quick football, are 30 something yr olds what were looking for ?
I get we need experience but I don't want to go back to the days of the team bus turning up at Hartlepool on a cold Feb Tuesday night & the players just going through the motions, been there done that, I don't want to see it any more.
I've had my tufc mojo well & truly reinvigorated by GJ & co, don't ruin it for me now please.
In GJ we trust coyy
