Re: Poor from the Pop ...
Wasn't there yesterday, but I felt Morris got far too much stick against Rovers too, where he was up there as my MOTM. I probably should have voted on the MOTM thread for him after that match, but I don't post often. I think he does a decent job, and would be a stand out player in many of the dross sides we've seen over the years.

Re: 1000 to cheltenham?
I've only been with my girlfriend a couple months, but I got in there right at the beginning with the "What do you think of Valentines Day" question. She gave the standard "Oh I think its a load of corporate rubbish and don't see why we need to be told when to be nice to our loved ones" answer, which is almost certainly not how she feels about it, but I jumped on that with "Brilliant, me too, I'm taking you to watch Cheltenham v Torquay that night".
Not sure how delighted she is but I am, living in Brizzle its only down the road.

I think the 100/1 price tag was the give away there!
FYI I've got Hull, Blackpool, Notts County, Leicester and Newcastle accumulator on today. No idea why I backed Notts away at Stevenage when theyve just got a new manager but we'll see!!

Re: football betting tips
I just saw a horse called Ellis at 101/1 in the 1340 at Uttoxeter. Don't normally bet on the horses but I thought a horse called Ellis surely couldn't let me down!!
It did, it ran off the course instead of jumping the second hurdle, and carried on running off the track.
The moral, do not choose your horses based on Torquay related names!

Re: Torquay.v.Dagenham Tue. 24/1/12
Swindon and Crawley aren't playing at the weekend, I'm guessing its FA Cup weekend.
IF we can get another win, we will be 2 points off the Automatics. Ok, we'll have played a couple more games, but that is sensational. Nobody but nobody would have predicted this at any stage prior to Christmas I reckon.
When Ling was appointed the reaction on here was mixed, but mainly pessemistic, and during that 8 game winless run the same- now....we're serious contenders....aren't we?

Re: Tackling
I think everyone should agree that the rules are stupid, and stop giving refs a hard time. If, with hindsight of a million replays and the rulebook in front of people, there is any debate about whether the decision is corect or not, then how is a referee supposed to be consistent and get decisions right.
Fans, pundits, and other referees all seem to have different opinions on this, so how can the decision be deemed to be either right or wrong?

Re: Devon Cup
From the link just posted
"Suspended leading scorer Howe cannot play in tonight's rearranged tie, and he will complete his current four-match League ban when United take on Macclesfield Town at Moss Rose at the weekend. Ling added: "We are going to use this game as a reserve-team fixture, instead of a youth match, which we might have done otherwise"
If Howe is suspended for this game, would that not be the fourth game of his suspension? Is there a rule that says that you cannot play in local competitions whilst suspended, but that it will not count towards your suspended games?

I've tried but have to wait for an administrator to allow me to post, and can't be bothered waiting.
Its hilarious though- that atmosphere was INCREDIBLE and they have a dig over a couple of anti Plymouth songs!! 99% of todays singing was pro Torquay and I have never been involved in an away atmosphere like that at a Torquay game-AMAZING!!

Rene thinks it was a red, he admits as much on Twitter.

Re: Foreign teams
Gloster, I think the team you are talking about is Guingamp. I went to see them many many moons ago, and had there replica shirt. At the time they had a massive "FROMAGE" as there sponsor, which made me laugh. Can't imagine any English teams having "CHEESE" across the front of their shirt! Great little place is Guingamp!!

Re: Foreign teams
I also have two. Lazio, as I went to see them as a kid in a Roma Derby, and Gazza ran rings around Roma that day.
And Marseille. Whilst living on the Cote D'Azur during my placement in 2004, Marseille got to the UEFA Cup final. I went to the home legs of the last 16, Quarter Finals and Semi Finals against Liverpool, Inter Milan and Newcastle respectively. A coach from St Raphael (over 2 hours each way), unlimited booze with a bunch of mental Frenchies and tickets to the game was 25 Euro!!!! I also got to see Emile Heskey score a goal, I'm fairly sure not many people can say that!!

Re: FA Cup: Sheffield United vs Torquay United
Wayne Rooney, according to some stat i read today, has not scored in his last 46 attempts. Suarez from over 50. Macheda missed an absolute sitter today for Manchester United. If Danny Stevens scored every time he has a sight of goal, he would not be playing for Torquay United!
