Re: If Torquay went bust.....what then?
i think for me id be looking a little further afield than most. my dad is from carlisle and subsequently ive seen them play a few times (including the fa cup game last year obviously, that was a highlight!), and followed them to millennium stadium, wembley, etc, so i guess id have more of an interest in what they were up to if tufc went under. although i dont really ever want to think about that.

Re: Singers next season
wasnt all that as a result of a request from the now departed buckle? seem to remember some desparate halftime plea, it was all a bit cringeworthy at the time.

Re: New manager poll
true, but he knows what level of club we are and the limitations we have, so he should surely realise when applying for the job that we arent going to be able to offer him a fortune. his contacts would probably be quite valuable too. i actually picked forster in the poll earlier, but this guy sounds quite exciting.YellowMurphy wrote:Hughes, but I feel that he would represent the most 'expensive' option

Re: The Shortlist
with regard to the above post on finances - there is a thread on here that seems to suggest otherwise. something about being up a creek...

Re: Will not be Trollope
id like to know how someone who didnt apply for the job was considered an early favourite. just shows, dont believe anything you read.

Re: The Shortlist
very surprised to see a former SPL manager on the list. i dont know much about him though. i think nicky forster would be a good choice, he sounds from the press releases/interviews like he's desperate for it. we really want someone like that. cant see hargreaves or russell taking charge YET. this is such a massive decision, its nerve racking but also potentially exciting if the new guy can reinstall a little bit of optimism.

Re: Isn't there something we can do to lift the gloom
not gloomy at all. this has been coming for such a long time, it feels like a big weight has been lifted in a way. doesnt matter what league we're in, doesnt matter who's in charge, i'll still be on the pop side next year.

Re: Support
it can be frustrating, but ultimately we should be encouraging, not discouraging, people to come to their first game in 15 years. hopefully theyll like what they see and come down more often. i doubt that was the case for many yesterday, but i actually took a mate of mine down who i can remember being at plainmoor in at least two or three years, and he certainly vowed to make the trip to plainmoor (and further afield) a few more times next year.
it seems totally pointless to me (and this isnt aimed at the OP or anyone in particular) to criticise people for simply turning up. i always try and focus on whats going on ON the pitch, and by chanting and shouting and whatever else, its more likely that those around will get involved, especially if emotions are running high and there is much at stake. if someone can be bothered to sit on a coach for 6 hours, they at least have a passing interest in the fortunes of torquay united and even if they dont want to sing at every opportunity, its important that that interest is developed. surely?

Re: React to win over Shrewsbury
really enjoyed the branston interview in particular. he seems a very honest and commited character. he more than deserves another year at least. i also likw to think that hell make a great coach or manager in a few years.

effectively it's 2-0 at half time.
we've got to be happy with that but the next goal is so important.

Re: So who's going to Rotherham then?
practical question here: ive heard (and seen from the pics) that part of the ground is uncovered. given the likelihood of rain tomorrow, will the part where we will be sitting be covered? im assuming so, just thought id ask for people who have been before. makes not a lot of difference really.
