Re: football league shirt printing/numbering - help?
yeah, i have emailed the club (both torquay and carlisle) about it but received no response (wasnt really expecting one). i did sort of apolgise for the cheeky nature of the request but at the end of the day its money in the till. still no luck at this stage, im kind of holding out for the official football league numbers and i havent found anywhere that does it. so i might have to give it a miss, at least he'll have the shirt (which, incidentally is brand new this season and is not only already on sale but was bought on the tuesday and received on the wednesday morning).

Re: New team captain
In general, I'm liking all these new ideas. I only hope that this isn't just a polite way of elbowing Manse out of the picture.

Re: Jo kuffour
true, but he had plenty of opportunities to do that before he evntually did. he made nicky wroe captain first. which was a bad decision and also unfair on nicky wroe who im sure was only 23 at the time and seems quite a reserved individual anyway.scottbrehaut wrote:Well, he made Manse his captain and he was here before Bucks, so not entirely true Shane.....but I know what you mean.

Re: Official site
it is quite poor. i realise that staff levels may not be at their highest but i definitely agree that the club shop could be better. i actually think we could sell better stuff too, but thats a side issue. i was recently on the carlisle united club shop and they had last seasons shirts down to a fiver. home shirts, away shirts, long sleeved shirts. whatever you want.
the thing that annoys me a lot about the site though is the silly headlines. it seems like rather than state a fact or keep things sharp (even a good pun wouldnt go amiss), whoever writes them is intent on some misleading or cryptic sentence, usually involving alliteration, that often means you miss certain news stories because they dont sound interesting or relevant, or end up reading ones you arent interested in. happens to me all the time anyway, maybe im on my own with that but its so annoying, i wish he/she would just keep it simple.

Re: Away Days your going to this year?
I'm ashamed to say my first ever away game was Rotherham last year (last game of the season), despite having been a Gulls follower since the age of 8. But even though we were awful and the Don Valley is one of the strangest football stadiums I've ever seen, the experience has inspired me to get on the coach a few more times this season. Bristol and Saints are the first two nailed on, I may have to sacrifice the Burton game just to be able to afford those two however. Later on in the season I'd like to get to AFC Wimbledon or perhaps another London side as I have plenty of friends up in the capital I could crash with. Beyond that I don't know, I'd just like to see a few grounds I haven't already visited on other occasions.

Re: Confirmed League 2 Transfers
Anyinsah could be good at Bristol, I've seen him for Carlisle before and he's essentially in the same mould as Muzzy. Lazy streak but one of the best wingers in the division on his day. Especially for League Two.

Re: Don't panic
Definitely not time to panic just yet but I am concerned. I think what we have is the basis of a squad beginning to take shape. My worry, like others, is that everything seems to have gone quiet on the transfer front. As long as Ling has still got his fingers in pies then I'm happy, but the buzz that accompanied last week's activity appears to have subsided and I hope this doesn't mean that all possible avenues have been exhausted, because if we attempt to start the season with the squad we now have, I think it'll be a struggle.
Just my opinion but I think we need a backup keeper, one or two wingers and one or two strikers. Possibly even a backup defender (especially given the Robertson rumours). I hope the budget allows for that, although of course loan options are also a possibility.

football league shirt printing/numbering - help?
is anyone aware of a (preferably) local business/shop/man in a shed who is able to print the official football league numbering on the back of a shirt?
id like to say its a torquay shirt but its actually for my dad who is a carlisle united fan and turns 60 next week. i have the shirt but i couldnt get hold of anyone at carlisel who knew what they were talking about so have opted to try and get it done down here myself.
ive tried jjb but they tell me they only do premier league numbering.
any ideas?

Re: good morning
haha this teeboo thing is turning into some sort of cult.
seriously though, a couple of new faces at plainmoor wouldnt go amiss this week. notably a proper winger, a proven striker and a backup keeper. too much to ask?

Re: Building from the back
Tom Cruise is indeed left sided. He had a poor game against us in the cup but I follow Carlisle as a kind of second team so I do know that he put in some decent performances elsewhere during the season.

Re: Stevens off....NOT CONFIRMED
He was one of those rough-edged players that Buckle brought in for the conference years. I think had he had a touch more physical presence, he would have been a real danger in this league too, but sadly he hasn't really had the impact of late that he used to have on BSP fullbacks. He used to surprise teams. If he goes I won't exactly be upset, providing we can find an adequate replacement. Otherwise it'll be like when Chris Hargreaves moved on and we had to make do with Tyrone Thompson.

Re: Herald Express - No longer a daily paper!!
Myself and a friend of mine who writes for the Dartmouth paper were talking about this just now over Facebook.
My view is that if they're going to take it down to one day a week, they may as well scrap it altogether. Weekly papers work for small towns, but for the entire Torbay/Newton Abbot area, it's a strange decision. 150,000 people (or whatever it is) aren't going to wait a week to find out what's going on in their area. The majority will go online. I think the Herald as a print medium will inevitably become obsolete.
From a TUFC perspective, it's a shame because that is always the first page I look at when I go into work, especially over the summer for transfer information and also after the weekend when I haven't managed to get to the game.

Rotherham away... (maybe not).
Argyle, Rovers and Crawley are all big ones. I'm kind of looking forward to AFC Wimbledon away as well.

There is a distinct lack of Tyrone Thompson in this thread.
