Difficult for all the right reasons. Great team performance that had everything. Speed and intelligence going forward, and strength and calm heads at the back.

I've also wondered about Lathrope and specifically about why there doesn't seem to be much coverage given to his absence. The reason appears to be a groin injury, but I haven't heard much about it other than that.
Bit peculiar.

Highway to Hele Issue 11
Hi, just a quick update for those of you who read Highway to Hele. Issue 11 is nearly done and I hope you're all going to love it. It's possibly our most diverse, best-looking and most complete issue yet.
Featuring interviews with Tim Sills, TULFC's Rhi Bailey and photographer Chris Hayes, as well as a ton of original articles and recurring features, it will be out within the fortnight and costs just £2 plus postage. We will also be selling at selected games when it's out.
More info and cover art (by John Sheehan) on our FB page: facebook.com/highwaytohele
Pre order Issue 11 or subscribe for four issues at the usual link: highwaytohele.bigcartel.com
And of course if you want to get involved for Issue 12, get in touch!
Thanks.

I quite like it but it would have been nicer with a darker blue.
(I do concede that not everything can be dark and miserable.)

You would indeed think that. It's almost like the whole thing is an afterthought.bixieupnorth wrote:you'd think it'd be up on the website for viewing, and in the shop for pre orders for those who buy every kit whatever is looks like
the old home kit is still full price i notice?
The club are always saying how little money there is but when it comes to making some, we can't leave it up to Nicho to be drumming up all the support. Commercially and socially, we have been left behind.
Another example - I've had to chase twice to be invoiced for player sponsorship and STILL haven't received one.

Some other good performances, though. Lathrope had a good half, and Blissett worked hard.

I find it strange that we haven't had much communication about this.
Wasn't the final design meant to come from a competition - did we ever see the winning shirt? I might have msised it...
I appreciate the limitations, but we're still not there with the whole commercial aspect of running a football club.

Torquay United v Bromley match thread Tuesday 9 August 2016
Midfield is a puzzle. I'd have Sparkes - Lathrope - Young - Chaney as a flat four, but with Richards as captain that's never going to happen. Expect Lathrope would miss out in that situation as he did tonight, which is very harsh. A tough one.
Thought when Chaney came on and he and Sparkes offered the width, we looked far more dangerous. Interesting to see how Nicho handles these five players (plus Scrivens etc) this year.

Highway to Hele fanzine: Issue 10 out now, back issues 50p
Pleased you enjoyed it! Feedback and constructive criticism alike is always welcome.torq2u wrote:Another winner, Rob. Well done.
Some complacent humour has crept in, and why not - I believe you've sold over 1000 copies of the fanzine now. This one covers a lot of ground, a wide field of interest, reflections of the past and hopes for the future.
The style is developing well - I like the cover that shows Nicho in a wig (?), and I like the white on black titles atop each article. Just one comment would be to ditch the black border round the text. IMHO it's intrusive and just doesn't look right to my eye.
Thanks for a great value read, Rob.
I've been experimenting with design for a few issues now. It's just not been the same ever since Microsoft removed my normal font from Word in the Windows 10 update. Unfortunately, I have no technical knowledge in this area so it's trial and error, learning all the time. Point taken on the black borders and I am inclined to agree. It looked better on the screen...
I'm not sure what you mean by complacent humour. I think by and large we're pretty much writing how we always have done, but naturally the tone and content will develop as we settle into a rhythm and welcome new contributors on board. I think most of the time we get it right?

Just so you know, we made the total and we'll be sponsoring Angus MacDonald (away) and Rhi Bailey of TULFC.
Thank you to everyone that took part.
