Easton is very experienced with 426 appearences and 32 goals to his credit Paul Sturrock is a big fan ashe has played at Dundee Utd,Swindon and Southend under Sturrocks management. Good signing if it happens.

Re: Torquay Summer Transfers Thread INs and OUTs
Anyone have a view on Chris Shuker? In last 7 seasons played 250 times for Barnsley, Tranmere and Morecambe scoring 33 goals.
Started out at Man City. Very small but very skilled player. Released by Morecambe.

Re: Which directors chose our new manager?
I thought I asked a legitimate question. The reason I was interested was I worked at Board level for 20 years and I was curious with a large Board how many Directors were closely involved in the appointment. My question had nothing to do with holding Directors accountable.
If you look at another of my posts today I said Martin Ling had much to commend him so doogull I do not need to get real . As for getting over it we have to trust the Boards judgement. I think both Dave Pougher and doogull made unwarrented assumptions about my question. What is the forum for if we cannot ask legitimate questions?

Which directors chose our new manager?
Simon Baker our Chairman obviously played the pivotal role in selecting Martin Ling.
Does anyone have a clue as to which other Directors were involved in the interviews and the decision making process?
Mod edit: removed CAPS as they were hurting my eyes :~D

Re: Martin Ling
The Board have made a surprising appointment. Only time will tell if they got it right. In my time I interviewed many people and some do interview well. You only find out 6 months later if you made the right decision.
Martin Ling had a long playing career 564 games in 17 years. He managed LO for 280 games and 87 at Cambridge. I would say this is a make or break move for him professionally. I believe in the modern game man management is everything. ML has much to commend him. and he obviously impressed the Board,it is how he inspires the players,or otherwise, which will determine success or failure. The jury is out.

Re: Welcome the new Gaffer
Well what a complete surprise!! We have just got to trust the Board. Remember they, or more likely a small group of Directors had the benefit of interviewing the candidates. I think the Board have gone for a Manager with good experience at the Orient. Cambridge in my view was a poisoned challice after they lost AGAIN at Wembley to United.
I wonder what Danny Potter thinks of the appointment.
I guess the bookies did well on this one
Good luck Martin.

Re: The Shortlist
Spoke to a friend in Edinburgh who knows a lot about Scottish football
John Hughes is a hard worker but not exactly charismatic and not an articulate man
I think the Board would be taking a gamble on a Scottish Manager. Now is not the time for a gamble. Forster my choice but admit Barraclough has more experience. The Board will go for the guy they think they they can work with best. Very important decision. Lets hope they get it right!

Re: the cost of Mr Lee leaving
In the published Accounts the only figure directly referring to Mr Lee is £101,547 asCompensation for loss of Directorship. Depreciation was £96,544.This still left a loss of circa £483,000 in addition. Alot of questions need asking at the AGM.
