Jon Gibbes Company Secretary
Jon co-authored the Official TUFC Centenary history in 1999. He is also the reason the book was published in 1999 after correcting the notion the club was founded in 1888, as you may see on some older club merchandise, by finding the original newspaper article published in 1899. The club weren't interested in correcting this, but I understand he contacted Rothmans with the evidence, had it corrected there and eventually by the club as well. Years later the club is using '1899' branding heavily and he is now inside the club himself, and a truly great asset I think he will be.
A lifelong fan, who has spreadsheets of every match Torquay United have ever played, every player to play for us and they are incredibly detailed, cross-checking and cross-referencing. Thousands of hours of love, passion and research to find and collate that level of detail. Being that detail oriented with that level of love for the club, it's hard to think of anyone better for the position really.

New manager announced - Paul Wotton
As someone who lived in Aberdeen for five years and remains interested in them, he's playing most weeks and making noises about a new contract. He's 33.gullsgullsgulls wrote: ↑14 May 2024, 22:22 How old is Junior Hoilett? Warnock took him to Aberdeen in January…
Is also on probably £5k a week and playing regularly in front of 16-18k, so doubt he's going to be pulled by NLS unfortunately.

Bryn Consortium Take-Over
My understanding, based on what's been announced to date, is that the Bryn consortium always planned to take over the club if their bid was chosen. If that happens, TUST will run a share issue to raise £150k and have a seat on the board. Until the takeover is complete, they are likely preparing for the share issue, but it won't launch until the ink is dry.
Being a safety net I assume refers to the original preferred bidder, who are indeed now out of the running and the Byrn consortium are in line to take over.
Plan A was always for TUST to join their bid as soon as they completed, so I suspect once the takeover is finalised, you'll hear about a share issue and TUST raising funds to buy into Bryn.

Potential Buyers
So the previous preferred bidder has pulled out or couldn't prove funds, and this consortium is next in line and taken over as preferred bidder in the last week.
I think it's positive news. Or certainly in a world of everyone else has pulled out and the AGM is five weeks away, it's this or potentially no club.
People called it a TUST bid, but it really isn't. It's a consortium of fans, the leader of which I understand is a millionaire. They offered TUST a chance to 'buy in' for a seat on the board, which in terms of fan engagement seems pretty positive, and TUST backed the consortium's bid (others weren't public so would be harder to back).
They also didn't say we would be part time, they said it was an option. Which seems sensible at that stage (they werent even preferred bidder at that stage) not to commit or over promise before knowing all facts.
Certainly given what we have been told, a consortium of rich fans seems pretty positive for the future. Everyone dreams of a millionnaire signing cheques and bankrolling the club, but it seems that wasn't on the table (or the previous two times the club was for sale).
