This is a difficult one for me to be getting my head round given my views on players that have acted wrecklessly and completely decimated lives so if we ended up signing Robertson i would have a decision to make. Having read the linked article it doesn't reveal too much info like if he was speeding or anything so i'll have to take it that he wasn't. It only says that the accident was caused by him fiddling with his ipod trying to change tracks.
At the end of the day, he killed a father of five due to irresponsibility and he was sentenced to 32 months inside which probably ended up being 2 years. It should have been 5 years minimum with no early release IMO but Robertson isn't responsible for the failings of our weak legal system and so he has served the time allocated to him and that is all he could have done.
I think i could be prepared to give someone like Robertson the benefit of the doubt because, like jonnyfive says, i'm sure we've all taken our eyes of the road each time we go out into the car unintentionally whether it be grabbing something from the passenger seat, glove compartment, in the recesses in the door, opening some sweets, and for me the worst culprit which staggeringly is legal. Staring at the satnav. If you're looking at a satnav then you aren't looking at the road. So at least he wasn't like theses other pricks like McCormick who was smacked of his t*ts or Lee Hughes who ran away, brave man. These two are total cowards who should never have come out of prison IMO let alone been allowed to play football again. This could have happened to anybody.
Anyway, we'll have to wait and see what happens with this and like CP says, it could be something to consider for next season.
