It causes much debate this selection. I like Bodin and on his day he can be brilliant and yes i have been there watching Stephens being totally in affective however i would like them to hold on to the ball better, I am also not sure what Bodins best position is. Bodin has given the ball away far to easily of late and he may be a better impact player coming off the bench.
Excellent points SBP and also when this does happen the ball comes straight back at us. It's also a lack of options for players like Bodin when he does get the ball. At Rochdale for the most part there was zero movement, nobody gambling running into space, nothing. Very pedestrian stuff and so it means Billy has to either hang on to the ball to look for a team mate which means he gets easily shoved off the ball and bullied into losing possession or he has no option but to play the ball backwards. I reckon if we had Howe coming deep (like you said) then Benners can run on beyond for any flick ons or balls through. Many times this season i've seen Howe come deep but there is nobody prepared to go beyond him to offer an outlet so he just lays the ball back. We need to start pressing teams high up the pitch and getting people forward and putting the opposition under pressure for a change. Leadbitter too is an asset as he has so much pace, he can bomb forward and offer us another option. He is liable to get caught out of position occasionally but i'll take that for the sake of attacking momentum. At Rochdale we were worse than bad but Leadbitter was noticed due to his bursts forward and willingness to get something going and he was maybe our best outfield player along with Downes.
I've said it before many times this season but i just think we need to say f*ck it and just get forward. Just attack, press, harry, play at a high tempo, don't give them an inch, play like a lower league side does in the cup against a Prem side. Intensity and purpose, that may open some doors for us. Play the same as we have been doing and we'll get hammered anyway.
Can't wait for this one now TBH. COYY!!
