I thought Ling said after the trial that Anthony was no more use to us than McKenzie, so I doubt that a contract was even discussed.

Talking of Byron Anthony, I see he has gone back to Hereford on a non contract basis. I'm sure that at this stage of his career, he wouldn't have wanted to have dropped out of the League but it just goes to show how things can change dramatically in professional football - he has gone from a (presumably very well paid) captain of a high profile League 1 side at Bristol Rovers to scrabbling around trying to earn a deal with a much lower profile non league team in the space of just 18 months, when he should be at the very peak of his career and indeed earning powers - at just 27 years of age.

Good shout Royal, I think you're certainly correct. Joke or not, it might well have been a consideration, given that Anthony probably wouldn't want to take too much of a cut in his wage demands from what he was on at Bristol Useless, which will, doubtless, have been a wedge and a half, despite their lowly standing.

That website still thinks we have Wayne Carlisle. Don't trust it!

In Ling we trust. Must have been better than Byron Anthony, which, to a certain extent, should give George and us a bit of confidence.

Waste of time. Some quality needed.

At first I wasnt that enthused with this, as I remember Artemi not really cutting the mustard during a loan spell with Bishops Stortford last season. But then on second thoughts, Damon Lathrope also looked pretty poor during his loan spell with Stortford, and things didn't turn out too badly for him!

I'm guessing that how this came about is given away on the OS - the lad is an ex-Leyton Orient scholar. So I'm assuming that he was in the Youth Team under Lingy's reign, Ling obviously rated him so he gets a chance here.

Good luck to him.

Is this a definate then? If so i echo Nicks sentiments, good luck to the lad and like Matt says, if he turns out to be worse than a soggy pudding then Lingy will show him the door. Positivity though, he's going to be a star for us. I can sense it.

I saw him against Nike Academy and he looked good at what he does. Big, destroyer type, rather than another Nathan Craig, but knows his job and does it well. Dinger ain't no mug, if GA wasn't up to scratch, he'd be out the door.
