Just noticed Mr. East is refereeing the Fulham v West Brom game.

Don't know how the FA decided after his wonderful performance last week that he is worthy of a premier league game this week!

Tells its own story - we weren't even the dirtier team. He was very picky and didn't let the game flow at all. Then in the Purse/Howe aerial battles Purse got away with all sorts of climbing and then Rene pulled up for anything. Regarding the back passes, first one came of the bloke's knee and went back to the keeper - don't know whether that makes any difference or not? Second one I didn't see any reason it wasn't a back pass....
There's no way those numbers are right. He must have given them 5 or 6 in the first half, which means he gave 10 or so to Argyle in the second half. He must have given them 10 in the first 10 minutes of the second half. They had at very least 30 free kicks today, which is one every 3 minutes. Except the ball is out of play for at least half a typical match (sounds untrue, but Opta tweeted this last year, and their stuff IS accurate). So that's one FK for every 90 seconds that the ball is in play. Except that you can only win a free kick when you are in possession, and since we had 50% of that, it means that they got a free kick, on average, every 45 seconds of the match in which the ball was in play and in their possession.
Given that they were perhaps fortunate (given Mr East's proclivity towards red cards) not to be down to 9 men after barely 5 minutes, with the horrible challenge on [someone] and the neck high, studs-to-knee on Nathan Craig just moments later, quite why he chose to become an Argyle supporter for the second half is beyond me. I suspect if we check, we will find a large cash deposit being made into his bank account, first thing Monday morning.

Spoilt a good game, gave Argyle something to crow about (they were utter rubbish, both halves, difference second half was that, rather than having to try to win the ball back/waste time on their own, they had the referee to do it for them) and cost us two points. There is no way that Argyle could have kept throwing bodies in front of shots in the second half in the manner they did in the first. It could have been 5-0 at half time, and wouldn't have remained 0-0 had TUFC been allowed more than 10 consecutive seconds of the ball before being robbed of it by the bloody officials.

Matt.

was not impressed! don't think the rest of the TUFC fans were either, he got booed off the pitch!

"Yellow anger, meanwhile, was turning against referee Roger East, who was generous in the extreme to Argyle in a number of 50-50 decisions."

He refereed like a person who has never played the game. Not noticing the tricks of the trade that players use (backing in, stamping, going down too easily etc...), Feeney had a field day. Neither of the pass backs were with the foot, I was in line with the second, so fair play on those decisions, but some of the free-kicks he was giving for both sides were just plain ridiculous. He refereed me a few times in the Salisbury and District League and I think that was his level.

How the hell does he get Premier League? The bloke was clueless and ruined the game. £21 quid to see someone blow their whistle for an Argyle free kick every 30 seconds. I am thinking of writing to Watchdog!

First of the two backpasses was off the knee, the second for could have been but wasn't clear cut, that said this guy was up their with the guy who name escapes me that was the ref for our home conference match with Forest Green as the worst ref I have ever seen, just awful.

His treatment of Rene Howe was shameful not just the booking, he gave a free kick against him every time, and how many times was Rene pushed over or fouled and nothing, don't know about the premier league think he should be struck off.

Possibly one of the worst referees I've ever seen. :S

Sorry, but this ref was completely and utterly clueless. He spoiled the game. How the hell he is regarded as fit to ref in the Premiership I do not know. His booking of Rene was shameful and ignorant.

0/10 for Mr East. A big, fat, clueless zero.

Its only a back pass if kicked with the foot, and neither of todays were from my angle, looked like knee/thigh.

A few strange decision today. Could be understood if consistent, but they weren't in this case. Would like to see the 'backpasses' again.

Terrible referee. Everything seemed to go Argyles way today. Missed what looked like 2 back passes and book Howe for nothing.

His performance suggests that he has a future in Premier League refereeing, BLUE SQUARE PREMIER!!
