Can't display fixtures - they are copyrighted and cost a fortune to print in their entirety.

Good ideas though.

Watch this space......

Glad you like the idea, but still in my opinion all the suggested sites look a bit prehistoric. For about £40 you can get a decent template like one of these:
http://www.templatemonster.com/website- ... 19539.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.templatemonster.com/demo/33391.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.templatemonster.com/demo/29603.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Then all you have to do is customise it to suit your needs, so add some yellow/blue (tastefully!) and all the relevent content, and you're away.

I'd be happy to assist, or stick one of my web dev guys on it (i run a number of websites so have a few people that help out i can use). Perhaps the Joomla CMS option would be a good idea, then you can give people logins with certain access levels so they can post content without changing anything important etc. and it sets it all up SEO optimized and everything else... we can have site polls, squad lists (up to date!) fixtures, results, articles with option for users to comment on them for more ways to interact / keep convo and topic all in 1 place, rather than forum threads that have to link to articles for discussion...

Won't take long and I'm sure there'd be a few of us, myself included, who would be happy to knock an article up every now and then.
Try this (and they're looking for a new Editor to take over the site - perfect opportunity?) or maybe this.

I'd also be willing to help out!

Yep, looks and feels a lot better Nick it has to be said. Would be fantastic if we could have our own unofficial website similar to this. I wouldn't mind doing some basic things for it either. Matt can do most of the articles though as he knows 99% of the English dictionary! :bow:

The new website is crap. Also the new formats of other clubs websites ( like Port Vale ) for example are basically un-navigable. There are blocks and boxes with text and graphics going off all over the shop and i just can't be arsed with it. It is slow and confusing.

Really like the idea shredder was considering some of this in the past but wasn't sure it's what people want. I'll snap something up when I get some spare time to develop it. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

Obviously we all agree the new site is hideous, and i'm probably not alone in finding those side-adverts incredibly annoying when sometimes you just want to "click-off" somewhere to deselect something, or select the window itself, only to open some annoying advert..

What i'd like to know is, just because we are apparently legally tied to having this site - why do we have to actively use it? Why can't we get up a 2nd website that wasn't designed in the 20th century and actually have something worth visiting? Seems like among the Torquay fanbase there is enough people to voluntarily set up a good looking site, and others to update it with match reports etc. frequently without requiring money (they do it here anyway)

In fact, why not extend THIS site to incorporate some new features? It doesn't have to just be a forum - it does appear to be THE most popular Torquay United website bar none. So why not capitalise on it, and have a proper website navigation system with a match reports area, news area, squad list, fixtures, etc. etc. etc. ?? A few adverts scattered around to contribute towards the hosting, and an option to pay £2.99/month to be a pro member with no adverts and elevated privaleges in the forum or something.... ?

Even the pictures on our site still appear stretched and distorted. The ONLY reason i can see why the football league would choose to do this is to show a live twitter feed on everyone's website.

They had a ticket tab in the last version with not much in it so i wouldn't hold out for online ticketing anytime soon.

Website is still poor, why they have that annoying entry page come up 10 seconds after you think your in is beyond me.

Would like to see the hit figures form this year to last, bet they are way down.

I've stopped using it and only reluctantly go there for Gulls player.

Would be good but can't see our club being on the crest of that particular wave. If we do that it will be long after it has been established, and probably once a more efficient ticketing method becomes available.

I'm by no means sensible, I just have momentary lapses in stupidity once in a while!
