Haha! I almost clarified that by saying that I really hate basketball.

To be fair, Steve Nash is a genuine footy fan - grew up playing the game. his brother was a professional player (played for Canada). Nash is part-owner of the Vancouver Whitecaps, plus he's a Spurs fan (his dad was from Tottenham, apparently).

If you happen to be in NYC in the summer you can often see him playing in central park; he organises pick up games there.

Yep - the LA Lakers just acquired Steve Nash and he tool number 10 because he's a huge football fans and says that its the number his 'favourite playmakers' used to wear.

Squad numbers these days are no indication of who is higher up the pecking order, or likely to be in the first starting 11.

Many player prefer numbers for sentimental even supersitious reasons etc etc.
