Hey, Gullden, don't get me wrong, I am positive, I see no good reason why we won't qualify, we always seem to match the level of our opposition, we're useless against useless teams and brilliant against similar, so these matches should favour us.
NTFC however, are crap and have been all season, they are the whipping boys of the division and are one of the few teams (perhaps Stockport and Lincoln being the others) who deserve to go down for being useless and against whom I would fancy any other team to be virtually nailed on winners.
For me, there are no negatives in wherever we finish this season, other than wherever it is, it should, really, have been higher. As others have mentioned, we have chucked down the bog dozens of points this seasons, we would be top by miles had those 'hit woodwork' have gone in and it does seem to me that we have had far more than our fair share of referees who do not like yellow shirts (or black).
Just flicking through my record of the games, we lost to Reading after 121 minutes, drew with Crewe away having been 2-0 and 3-1 up, lost to bury at home having been 2-0 up, lost 2-1 away to Morecambe having been 1-0 up going into added time, 1-1 at home to Gills - 87th min equaliser, 2-0 up at Cheltenham - drew 2-2, 'the Northampton incident' and now thrown away a 2-0 lead against Burton. That is 16 points straight away without taking any of the other 'slightly late' goals or any of the woodwork incidents or our deducted point into account. We could, and perhaps should be much higher than we are and therein, I believe, lies the difference between us and those above us. None of them is better, I would argue that a couple are appreciably worse, but they have held on to leads and perhaps just benefited from a late goal or two, which is something else which we have failed to do (excepting Gills away, Nico 90+5). A prime example is Norwich, who have now scored 12 goals in added time and it has won them the points which separate them from the team down in 8th or 9th.
Matt.
