Yes, he was dodgy as the chant goes.
On the other hand, I still remember the performance by a one time Boston keeper, Paul Bastock, who single handedly kept us at bay despite having a tennis ball shaped swelling on the side of his head. This was caused by one particular save when he collided heavily with a goalpost with a sickening thud (I was right behind that goal). It took quite a while for him to recover but he did and he carried on to the end (if it had been in a rugby match he would have had to go off for a 'HIA').
He earned my respect that day.
He went on to break a world record held by Peter Shilton for the most appearances by a goalkeeper.
