Highway to Hele fanzine: Issue 10 out now, back issues 50p

I always enjoy this publication, although the pedant in me wants to point out that the reason Keith Curle scored 5 goals for us, was because he was a (right) winger when he played for us and indeed when he was at Bristol Rovers. It was at Bristol City that he was converted into a central defender, even though he was signed as a winger.

I'm not sure what you mean by complacent humour. I think by and large we're pretty much writing how we always have done, but naturally the tone and content will develop as we settle into a rhythm and welcome new contributors on board. I think most of the time we get it right?
I think the humour does have more of an "edge"!

EG
p2 "possibly the most highly-anticipated awards ceremony to feature neither awards or a ceremony."

p6 FGR - "kale-eating sunlight dodgers"; Gus - "... devote as much time to improving the mental aspect of his game as he does to picking out shorts for the gym"; Louis Briscoe - "a disinterested beard with a man attached to it"

p35 "... make our communication more professional. Not too professional, mind. This isn't the matchday programme"; "Here's Gilbert the Gull. The face of our subscription service. You can tell that because I wrote the word subscription at the bottom"

It made I laugh.

I've been experimenting with design for a few issues now. It's just not been the same ever since Microsoft removed my normal font from Word in the Windows 10 update. Unfortunately, I have no technical knowledge in this area so it's trial and error, learning all the time. Point taken on the black borders and I am inclined to agree. It looked better on the screen...

Hi Bobby, if you want id be happy to try and find that font for you, (if you can remember it's name) and if you DM me your email address id be happy to send it to go and explain how to implement it again.

Some complacent humour has crept in, and why not - I believe you've sold over 1000 copies of the fanzine now. This one covers a lot of ground, a wide field of interest, reflections of the past and hopes for the future.

The style is developing well - I like the cover that shows Nicho in a wig (?), and I like the white on black titles atop each article. Just one comment would be to ditch the black border round the text. IMHO it's intrusive and just doesn't look right to my eye.

Thanks for a great value read, Rob.

Hi everyone,

A few updates on Highway to Hele fanzine.

1) Issue 10 is out now, featuring an interview with Wayne Carlisle and a really fascinating Q&A session with the Ladies team (on the TULFC setup and the wider world of women's football). Also includes the results of our end of season awards. Subscribers should have their copies now, but if you're a casual reader you can pick up Issue 10 in the online store for £1.50. www.highwaytohele.bigcartel.com

2) Back issues are now 50p each. I have stock of issues 7, 8 & 9 available in the online store. A good time to get into HTH if you're new to us.

3) Subscribers - Issue 10 was your last of the current deal. We have moved to a rolling deal now, which you can re-subscribe to at the online store.

For all the above please head to www.highwaytohele.bigcartel.com.

Hope you enjoy Issue 10.
