I remember being on the away end terrace at St James Park for that PSF - it was the right thing for us to do then and the right thing for them to do for us now.

For anyone mean-minded enough to question the wait (12 years) or the fact that they are repaying a favour, it it is my bet that their attendance at Plainmoor on Friday will far exceed ours at St James Park all those years ago!

Fair play to them, I always want us to beat Argyle and Exeter but I want all 3 to be doing ok so to speak. It's good for the area to have the 3 teams doing well. Naturally I'd rather it was a couple of years ago and we were finishing above the pair of them but hey ho.

Competitive rivalry is healthy, whatever the circumstances fair play to them.

Mr. Gullscorer is right. My fist Exeter vs Torquay derby was at Easter time, 1964. I'm pretty sure it was Good Friday. The crowd (at St. James's Park) was 16,141 and both supporters (we were on the Big Bank) intermingled happily, as we did at the return fixture on Easter Monday at Plainmoor (attendance; c.13,600). In any case it's all very small beer compared with, say, Newcastle versus Sunderland.

Yes, TUFC did help out Exeter a while back in their time of need, however, it is nice to see they haven't forgotten us, in our time of need, I, as much as everyone else still wish them to lose every game, but indeed, do thank them for this gesture.

I echo Steve Breed's comments about the Devon clubs. Throughout my time watching Devon professional football there has never been anything more than friendly rivalry and friendly banter between their respective supporters. I can still remember a golden age when fans were not segregated, but mixed together around the grounds, with never a whisper of any trouble, the extremely rare idiot or two excepted, who were quickly dealt with by supporters themselves pending ejection by the police, such stewards as were present being limited to dealing with crowd safety issues and assisting disabled spectators. Anyway, I hope we give them a thrashing on Friday regardless..

Much as I still wish City to lose each game they play, there's clearly no real rivalry at present between the two clubs, such is our predicament. Of course the extra funds are most welcome, but Exeter in time might consider this small change compared to the value of some of our ex youth players now on their books. I'm looking forward to the game and giving Bobby Olejnik a warm welcome back to Plainmoor.

Surely our green Cornish friends can follow suit and similar waiver their share of the gate receipts this week?!
