Barnet away was brilliant; buzzed for a week afterwards.Then reality started to ooze back.....

Last time I heard much of a roar was away to Mansfield when we were relegated the season before last. Good atmosphere, lots of support - urged on by the fact that we played some lovely football.

One song, two words, this shouldn't be a problem. ;-) :)

That's putting it VERY, VERY kindly, Gullscorer !! A good post, though. I do believe we have some hope again but as you say, it's likely to be a long and sometimes bumpy road and we fans have our part to play. :scarf:

Given the difficulties and poor results of the past few seasons, it's not surprising that the Plainmoor roar has been largely absent.

The only positive has been Thea Bristow and the contributions she made to the running of the club, and in the end even she found it an impossible task with a board which seemed, to put it kindly, to be unlucky in the appointments it made and unable or unwilling to take the action necessary to stabilise the club's financial situation and to run the club in a sustainable way.

That's all now in the past.

With a new regime in control the club now has a new opportunity. It's not going to be an easy road ahead, but it's an opportunity that must not be missed. And it's vital that as supporters we play our part by turning up to matches and ensuring the return of the Plainmoor roar.

Such efforts in recent years must have felt like banging our heads against a brick wall. But not any more.

Come on folks. The fans ARE the club. Get up to Plainmoor and the LWS and support the lads through thick and thin.

Let's hear that roar.

That was against Woking and was probably the best game in the last three seasons.

the old days were the best in the mini stand, oh to get them days back, plenty of singing back then, the plainmoor roar was there most weeks, trying to get the pop side going these days is a bit of a slog, the only game i remember last season was when we played woking at hope with luke young free kick winner near the end, the crowd in the second half were the loudest id heard in along time, even the players commented after the game on how loud we were, thats how it needs to be every week, come on plainmorr lets get those days back! :scarf: :scarf: :scarf: :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

Agreed about the nèed for such levels of support. Though the last time I heard the roar was the defeat of Edgar Davids' Barnet the season before the drop

If the Plainmoor Roar is not heard regularly from the outset this coming season, then the football community of South Devon will not deserve to hear it again in the future.

It's the beginning of a new era at the LWS, with new owners who have saved the club from extinction, and are locally based and totally committed to TUFC. There is nothing more they can do at this stage to ensure a positive kick-off into a new, albeit possibly long-term, golden future. They and the management team they have appointed deserve our complete and unwavering support.

It behoves everyone who wishes the club well, every Gulls supporter, to turn up at Plainmoor to support the team, from the first home pre-season friendly to the first league game and beyond throughout the season. No team, to my knowledge, ever won promotion without such support. And at TUFC such support is vital to ensuring a positive financial footing as a basis for a serious future promotion challenge.

The last time I remember the 'Plainmoor Roar' was not at Plainmoor but at Wembley. Everyone there that day will remember that moment - "Wayne Carlisle crosses, Tim Sills rises - it's in the nettttttt !!!!" and we're back in the Football League. Oh, such a moment can come again soon ..... please Mr. Cox. :scarf: But you're right, Wivel - the glory days of the sixties/early seventies were the times when the roar was at its loudest.

It's been a very long time since this was heard. O.K., there've been moments of excitement and noise over the past few years, but the Roar has been, on the whole, non-existent. In my opinion, the last time the Plainmoor Roar was heard fully was when Rodney Jack scored the second of his two goals in the second leg of the (present) league Two semi-final play-offs against Scarborough.
Mind you, as an old-timer, and the regular old-timers (i.e. those who say that Stubbsy, Reg Wyatt and 'The Beast' are their favourite players) will no doubt agree with me, the last time the Plainmoor Roar was heard regularly was during our glory days (1966-72). Oh Lost!
