That's not prize money - that'll be TV money + prize money. You get £1.2m per place, I think. The team that finishes dead last gets £1.2m, the winner gets £24m. Then each club gets a flat 'base' amount of TV money regardless of finish. Think it's something like £60m with the new deal (which is nuts, agreed), then they get money based on the number of live games they were in. that's £750,000 for each game, although the minimum for that is £7.5m - so if you have fewer than 10 live games you still get paid that latter figure. So I think the number you heard is inaccurate, although the money they do get is nuts.
That's why it's great for a club like Bournemouth, who can go up, lose every single game 5-0 and go back down with an addition £70m or so to build with (plus whatever extra they get from shirts, tickets, etc)
