Luke's not going anywhere ?

by Dave » 05 Dec 2014, 19:27

I think it's unfair to say Luke Young solely chose to sign for Torquay to stay with family, I think Luke Young had the benefit of some good advice, for the progression of his career it is better for him to be playing regularly rather than sat on the bench of a League 1/ Championship club.

Do not think he, or his family have made any secret of the fact LY still thinks that way, so the chances of him moving on in January are looking slim to say the least, but you really can not say never in football, there is a loose rumour going around a bid has already been received, can't say if that's true, or whether Luke Young would want to go, January will be along interesting month.

Why is it that whenever I access the Herald Express (not to mention other newspapers') website these days all I get is pages of adverts superimposing themselves and then freezing up the screen? :@

Anyway, it could be that if Luke Young goes to Bristol City or indeed any other club in January, he could then disappear without trace. So it may be in his interests to stay with the Gulls for a complete season or two, to increase his profile, and then to move on for an even bigger financial advantage to himself and the Gulls, and here I'm reminded of Eunan O'Kane's success story..

Of course money talks, and so it's still possible that he may move in January because the club may be desperate for the money and he may prefer a more immediate, if smaller, financial gain for himself. But that could well be a short-term benefit at the expense of even richer rewards in the future.

This may well be the case, there's nothing solid to say Luke Young will be sold in January, or he will want to move on in a personal level. taxilady, I really do want to dampen yours or anyone else's enthusiasm, but this article is meaningless in the grand scheme of things, Chris Hargreaves is only saying what he is duty bound, and what you'd expect him to say as Torquay United manager , Luke Young is our clubs playing asset and it's the manager job to protect that asset.

There's one think I can actually guarantee everyone, if a bid of a certain level comes in our club can not and will not say no, if Luke Young decides, now is the right time to move on, he will be gone on January , there's one thing that is certain in football, that is the fact nothing is certain.
