Not only did they nick the points, they thought they would run off with my 10 ' hand-knitted scarf as well ! Ran after the dear dear people, & reclaimed it; then got a police escort 'for my own good' !!!!!!

Those 8 draws in a row weren't too bad at that time as we were well up in the Division 3 (League 1) promotion race and were keeping up an unbeaten run and not losing ground in the days of 2 points for a win. 2 draws for us was a good as another team who won one then lost one.

The worst part of that sequence of 8 draws was how it came to an end. Convincingly one would have to say. Boxing Day 1969. A gentle saunter down to Home Park for a routine derby win as at that time we were the top team in Devon. Sounds too good to be true. It was .... Plymouth Argyle 6 Torquay United 0. Mike Bickle who had been delivering milk the year before scored 4.

Still it ended the run of draws and we found out how to win the following week with Fred Binney getting the winner in a 1-0 win. Having just missed out on promotion in the previous 2 seasons we were further adrift this year, finishing 6th, and I suppose having said that we didn't lose ground in the sequence of draws, it was 8 points dropped + 2 against Argyle when we never turned up and that would have seen us promoted.

Who would have wanted that though? Teams like Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Leeds United had spells in the 2nd tier around that time. The odd cup game is ok, but we wouldn't really have wanted to be playing them in league games would we? Bring on Telford

....... and, of course, the quickest own goal - officially timed at six seconds. Never mind number of wins, games without conceding - that record will take some beating !!!

Nope - it was a draw for the fifth round so the number would have remained the same.

I have been following these records for some time now. If we can win with a clear sheet on Saturday we will be coming damned close to Stockport 10 game winning streak without conceding a goal. this I believe is a league record which has still not been broken.I cannot locate the record for the conference as yet.

The league record for most wins on the trot is currently shared by 5 clubs of which Bristol City are one. along with Arsenal. MAnure and Preston. who all have all won 14 matches consecutively. But Stockport is the only team to have won 10 without conceding. incidentaly. Stockport also hold the record for highest win. beating Halifax town 13-0 I wonder whether the Halifax Town fans feel knowing that this is now revenged by Stockport now being in the Conference North.

Totally different from the least wins in a season which is held by Loughbourgh and Derby County.

We have a long way to go to equal the record for games without loss though. Arsenal hold that one. 49 Games without defeat in which they also hold the record for wins away as well. (27) Whereas Chelski hold a record for number of games without defeat at home. (86) wow that's some record even allowing for the money they have.
If you want to go the whole distance though. AFC Wimbledon (Yep the new boys) can hold their head very high. they hold the most number of games without defeat. the all time comers record for thier climb through the non league pyramid as they gained promotion back to the league. with 78 matches undeaten home and away. making Arsenals record when you compare the resources and size of club as mere trifle. (Feb 2003 to Dec "2004) combined counties league .

Looking at the conference.Mansfield Town and Burton have the record for most wins consecutively with 12. with Aldershot with the most wins in a season at 31..Stevenage would have had that record but 2 games from their season were struck off when Chester were expelled so their games were expunged..
There is a record I doubt we can achieve but who am I to say we won't. Fewest goals conceded. which stands at 24. but with the way our defense is playing at the moment anything could happen.

Obviously our priority is always the next game, but I feel should we come through the Telford match unscathed then not conceding against FGR would be a massive achievement.

Manager Liam Watson today insisted AFC Telford United will come through their dreadful start to the season - as defender Chris Lever prepared to leave.
The 26-year-old is set to join Conference North outfit Bradford Park Avenue on a permanent basis.
Lever was made available for transfer last week along with Wes Baynes and Andy Owens, as Watson looks to shake-up his struggling squad.
He said: "It’s whether Chris feels confident or not. I think he wants to go and play as a centre-back in the Conference North. Good luck to him.”
Watson kept his players in the dressing room following Saturday’s 5-0 defeat at Halifax, which extended Telford’s winless start to 11 games.
Defeat left Telford rooted to the foot of the Conference Premier table, but Watson remains confident they can pull through their dreadful start and survive.
He said: "I have had this before at Southport when we first came up. There is a big gulf between the two levels and from that point of view we will come through it.
“I think for the players who have not played at this level before it has been a massive shock. It’s difficult, especially on the back of last season when we were winning most weeks.
"It’s just a case of working harder. We just need that first win to get us going, to raise the players.”
Telford will aim to pick up their first victory of the campaign tonight when they travel to Market Drayton Town (pictured) in the Shropshire Senior Cup.
And Watson intends to field a strong side tonight, saying: "That’s the way I’m looking at it, a chance to get a win under our belts.

T'was some strike too, 20 yards and drilled into the bottom corner. We did win the match, but conceding was a real blow. As Gulli has reminded us, we came fearsomely close to changing the course of the history of the club. Now here we are. Never mind, eh.

Acording to the Wikipage its 15!

What about number of games undefeated? We are up to 10 now - how close is that to our best ever ?

Yes, that season we were three minutes away from 1000 minutes without conceding, something only a handful of clubs have ever done, were one game away from playing Man Utd away in the FA Cup, and lost in the play-off final. It could have set us up on the pitch, off the pitch and in the history books... but in the end we did nothing.
