Apart from using this forum as a vehicle to draw attention to yourself exactly why are you still here? Alex Rowe and Cris Boyce were sat in the bench on Tuesday and Boyce was at the game again yesterday. I think that indicates regardless of the fact they no longer have any involvement at boardroom level they remain fans of the club. Unlike some...

The OP.

PMSL

There is an old Yorkshire saying and it's not let me down yet. Never trust a man in a suit.

I can take that a step further. Never trust a man in a track-suit. Especially when he has the initials AK on it. At the very least Alan Knill was man enough to front up and face the grief when required. A fans forum in which months and months of pre prepared answers doesn't count for AR I'm afraid.

brucie wrote:No thats fair comment but did Baker really want to be chairman. Say what you like about him but at least he had the balls to step forward and have a go.
Thea may have had the job thrust on her perhaps but she was wheeled in front of the tv cameras during the Ling fiasco - it wasn't her fault that she wasn't good at that. Where was Rowe? hiding in the toilet perhaps.
I have no idea what has happen to cause the directors to resign - all I am saying is starting a "petition" showing our support seems pretty stupid to me when we havn't really got any idea why they went in the first place.
Yes they were part of the consortium that got is back into the football league. But they are just like the grand old duke of york - marched us back to the place we started from.
Perhaps its guilt over last seasons monumental cock up - who knows?
Don't disagree with most of what you're saying but feel you're being harsh on Alex Rowe ..... and you're re-gurgitating old issues ! At the time of the Ling fiasco, Alex Rowe was simply a director. Although he may well have supported Ling's dismissal, Simon Baker was the chairman and although he may be a nice bloke and unquestionably a true Gulls fan and had the balls to step into the chairman's role, it appeared that he quickly passed the buck when it came to contacting Martin Ling to tell him he was getting the chop. As for last season, this time last season most (but not all) on here, including me, were quite happy with Knill and Chris Brass' appointments - even Dave Thomas admits in the H.E. today that he tipped us to be in the Play Offs. Had we finished mid-table, Martin Ling would have hardly got a mention. Hindsight is a wonderful gift !

Hector is right - despite several asking on here - why are Bill Phillips and Simon Baker so despised? We never got any convincing answers, except that they haven't put any money into the club.

Finally, for all the words on here, including mine - Forever has probably hit the nail on the head with one sentence - I fully believe there has been no fall out in the Board whatsoever, but I'm also in no doubt the reasons behind these resignations are in no way positive either. Enough said.

Apologies. It wasn't Billy Bodin at the photo call
Quite correct it was Mickey Parcell on crutches.
Also I believe Sam Chaney is a lookalike Billy Bodin.
So that conspiracy is shot to pieces.
Still doesn't explain why three resignations on the same day.

I wouldn't expect anything other than a polite and politically correct statement from Alex Rowe or either of the Boyce brothers. They have too much professionalism to come out and air their dirty laundry in public.

Certainly not in any squad photo I've seen.

Just a thought, but young Mickey Purcell who broke a metatarsal bone in his foot and is probably now on crutches and who IS in the photo, does look a little bit like him ....... :)

Perhaps of more significance is the absence of Karl Hawley who we were told over a month ago was a couple of weeks away from being able to take part in "contact" training whilst he was still in recovery from his broken arm. He looked fine at the original "meet the players" session and would surely have been "fit enough" to sit down and have his photo taken!

I guess it all points to the likelihood that whatever happens he has probably played his last game for us as I really don't think Greavsie sees him in his plans. Whether he leaves on a permanent deal or a loan, it think it highly unlikely he's coming back.

You believe that the timing of this is coincidental, and this could be a case of three directors helping out with all the hard work then stepping aside, that's fine, your allowed to think that. I am almost 100 % certain there has been no fall out on the board, but I'm almost 100 % certain the reasons were not coincidental or positive, note at no time have I used the word "fact"
Okay, I was meaning some people were implying it. Making statements as if fact and then backing them up with rumours they have heard and results of adding 2 and 2 together (which rarely seem to be 4).

I find myself in the unusual position of agreeing with most of what Brucie has to say on a subject... :Z

I do find all of this a little distasteful. People making assumptions about board members, past and present and passing them off as facts.
Does anyone actually know any of these people personally, or know how they act in the board room?

Play offs under Ling to a 2nd relegation in 7 years, not what I would call a success. However will conceed the money has helped with a new Stand and training grounds.

The cash has been most welcomed however its only a plaster in terms of our longer term future.

C.H. Is on record as saying he couldn't see any future at the club for Bodin, certainly on the money he was on before.
I don't see him in the photo?

Yes, but there also has to be an understanding here, that to gain the eppp funding the has to put money in to match it. The eppp funding is for one year only, if the club is not promoted back to the league at the first attempt it will lose the eppp funding, then how will the youth set up be funded, will the club have the money.

Will they have to gain charitable status, or will the players have to pay a training fee, or worse will we lose the youth set up all together, that remains, yet to be seen.

I'm now in no doubt I've got the wrong end of stick over this, I fully believe there has been no fall out between the board what so ever, but also I'm no doubt the reasons behind these resignations are in no way positive either, enough said.
