More out than in.....Chris H has a real job on his hands

Chris Hargreaves needs a leader in midfield where he is going to find him and pay peanuts I do not know. If someone comes in for Pearce we will be in more trouble.

Dagenham, for example, seem to do it all of the time, find good players at non-league level. There must be players at Conference South/North level or perhaps the league below, who we can take a look at. I wouldn't be surprised if the top scorer in the Conference next season was a player who has been poached from the leagues below, than someone on the way down.
We've already signed a midfielder (Luke Young) who scored more goals in League Two last season as Mansell has managed in the previous two; it's a shame we couldn't have got hold of Kieffer Moore before Yeovil did.

Never mind - move along, nothing to see here.
I'm all embarrassed now  yes that did go right over my head, cheers Scotty, to be fair me and about 400 others re; season tickets, I was honest enough to admit though. Damn there's that word honest again.. :)

Never said the club weren't, couldn't offer good money, just some players have asked for more than the club afford, that's just true.

CH is doing the best he can to bring in players he wants, some as we know have asked for money well beyond our club financial capabilities, no doubt we'll start the season with as good a squad as it's been humanly possible to assemble, whether it's good enough for promotion that remains to be seen.
Well, if we end up losing out on a player for the sake of 300 odd quid, I'm blaming you.

Ch is working his socks off to get players in and players out and has a few coming in on trial, we are know differant to anyone else, give the guy a break, I think people would be surprised if they new the players he he has spoken to about signing, and contrary to popular belief the money on offer is better than some may think. Lets be patient .

He's right to get rid of the ones he can, I.e. those out of contract, to save money to sign his players.

Let's face it Karl Hawley and Elliott Benyon are probably big earners here so it's unlikely a non league club could match what they are getting here. All the league club, who could afford to take them away, will have seen how shite they were last season so won't be interested.

He's got to free up funds before bringing people in or he risks being massively over budget.

Ridiculous thread. We are a small club, we have to sell first, buy second, that's how it works for us small fries. Yes it means we don't get first pick of the players, but it doesn't mean that they won't do a good job for us.

well I'd happily get rid of Benyon and hawley say, and spend the money on one good striker.

We have this every year

Believe it or not Torquay United are just not even on the first page on most available players list of where they want to be, in fact, as was the case last year, all we offer for most players is a last chance of staying in the professional game

There will be players who will join us, who currently have no idea they will be.....they truly believe that Accrington Stanley, Dagenham and Redbridge, perhaps even Bristol Rovers, will make a move for them first....they may turn out in the odd friendly or trial match for these clubs.....and then only and only then, in a blind panic, sign for us one week before the season starts.

I am sure Chris Hargreaves has many irons in the fire, and I am sure the vast majority of those players also do.....Its all part of the fun of being a Torquay fan.

D'you mean 'start over' as in the American way of expressing 'start all over again', i.e. from the beginning, rather than 'start again', having stopped half-way through, or simply 'start again' from the beginning..?? :)

Is it really disappointing to see more players leaving than coming in?

You do realise that in order to sign players, we need to make some room on an already stretched wage bill?

Now that we have created some room and know where we are at regarding who is staying and going, I expect to see us signing more players. CH has quite openly stated that we have anything between 3 and 5 new players turning up for pre season trials alone, as well as the three we have already signed.

Now if we could just ship out Benyon, Hawley, Tonge etc we really could start over
