We were in for Midson and Constable. Both big, tall lads, quite aside from any other redeeming feature of which each may be possessed. We also had a chat with Jon Shaw, 6'1" and (allegedly) 173lbs (although he looks much heavier in pictures, I'd say nearer 190lbs). Were in for people, obviously, but I am finding information harder to come by under CH than I ever did under any previous manager (which is ironic).
Our downfall last year was not being good at any one thing. We were average at everything, which meant we lost to everyone. We were a better footballing side than Mansfield, but we dropped points because they were better at hacking it aimlessly forward and getting lucky.
Next season, we need to pick a thing and get good at it. If that thing is pace, then so be it. It worked for Cheltenham, it can work for us. While I agree that a target man would be nice, I won't be too upset if we don't get one, provided that those we do get are all very fast or very good finishers or very something else.
Matt.
