Looking at the video I don't think its him thank god. Possibly reasonable signing though.
The carthorse was Matt Rhead I think.

The only thing I'd add is that last time I saw Briscoe he was a little on the large side, shall we say, and whilst undoubtedly having good ball skills, his mobility was impaired by his size. Now if he turns up in good shape for pre-season I think he could be a real asset.

Louis Briscoe posted a link to this 18 minute video of his highlights from his time at Mansfield. Worth a watch, couple cracking goals. Looks very direct, too.

Positive news today. First of all, because it wasn't the calibre of player I was expecting to see. I was resigned to unproven kids, so to sign a player with experience and success at this level is great news. The more solid Conference players we can get in like this the better. I don't care much that they report he has 2 anonymous games in every 5 - that means that 60% of his appearances will have a positive impact! I'll take that after last season. And not worried about concerns about fitness - we've had this before and if Damien Davey (he is still with us, right?) says a player is fit then he is fit enough.

Second of all, lets be honest - nobody saw this coming. I, like most, look to the ECFC, Argyle, Rovers, Bristol City etc etc released lists for our likely signings. So to bring this guy in shows that CH's contact book goes further than we thought which bodes well. And fair play to Briscoe too - his club history doesn't exactly scream out potential TUFC signing so he's obviously taken a big move to join us. Credit to him for that, and credit to the club for selling themselves to him

Yep, and more than our top scorer this season ;-)

Sorry just to add, Mansfield fan has said this on the non-league forum,

Briscoe is a good signing at this level. On his day he's unplayable at this level but doesn't do it as often as he should. Scores some absolutely belting goals and will be a real asset to Torquay.

Yes, this could be a decent signing, to be honest know nothing about the lad so will judge on what I see. The thing for me is, Buckle as much as we loved him did prove one thing, if you go out and sign players hardened at this level who have had success it will lead to you being at the right end of league and more than likely going up, which is what we all want, Louis Briscoe fits that type of player.

More of a winger than a striker I think, at least I hope so, otherwise the goals per games tally doesn't look too good!
A replacement for Chappell I guess, pretty happy TBH :)

Sounds like a Tim Sills type - great at "non league", not so in the league.

I too read that thread, sounds promising if we can get him fit and motivated.
