Yep, Young would be a good signing I think. Blanchard would be a good one too, Cole as well.

He's what we need, he's better on the ball than Mansell, Harding and Lathrope

If be more interested in Exeters released list, as they have a number of locally based players who have been on the fringes. Ideal for a low budget conference rebuild.

And Bournemouth too - a number of their young squad members spent time on loan in the Conf South last season. Chance to step up under the tutelage of CH?
If we can get Luke Young, I would get him in like a shot; he's probably the best passer that Argyle had last season and a full season of regular football at a slightly lower level than he has been used to could help him improve as a player.

Just need Reid to sign a contract and we're ready..

I hate sounding cocky and whatever, but I'd be surprised if we're not in the top 7 at the end of next season.. We've had a huge clear out, but definitely agree a lot of our side is largely average.
Absolutely true, I'm afraid. His 21 goals were worth 19 league points to you (and that's without the goals he created, merely the ones he scored). Take out those 19 points and you finish... Bottom on 41 points.

You can argue until you're blue (or green) in the face, but those are the numbers. If you'd signed Hawley and we'd signed Reid, the roles would be reversed.

Matt.

Having the clearout is only half the job though. You now need to find better players to come in and replace them.

I'm not sure we want to be raiding their bin though. They are a relegation side for sure without Reid, so picking up their scraps probably won't serve us too well.

Parsons also released. Good young left back, had him since January. Imagine that will work out as a big mistake for us.

Several there who can do a job.

Blanchard is a good centre back but for some bizarre reason has been used as a right back all season.

Cole is a tad flappy for crosses but you'll struggle to find a better shot stopper below the championship. He's just that good. But unfortunately the other parts of his game let him down.. I imagine he'll sign for another League 2 side though.

The real surprise here is Luke Young. 21 years old and over 100 appearances. I'm yet to come across Argyle fans who wanted him to go, it's a huge shock to everyone. Perhaps he hasn't progressed as hoped but he's easily one of the best passers around, some excellent dead ball abilities too.

Vassell never progressed but did very well in tier 7 this season for Weymouth. Trotman is a donkey but no better than Downes so can't see why you would want him.

Boco.. Scored 10 goals for Accrington last season.. Is bollocks. Waste of a contract.

Good luck for next season, definitely some beys who would do well for you.

Agree with Young, I always saw him as a decent player, although having said that, the amount of Argyle and City fans that rave about Danny Stevens is stupid. Exeter could be a good loan team, with the youngsters they bring through, getting some on a loan could be handy. As for Bournemouth, CH has already brought in Cargill and Stockley so I think you're right there. Although I do hope Stockley doesn't come back

I would go for Luke Young - he is a decent player.

I thought Blanchard was a bit of a donkey with a reputation for what bad 80s rap* would call 'da bad beeavya!'?

Matt.

Yes, I know it's a tautology, there was no good 80s rap.

I would love Jake Cole here, he always impressed me when we played Barnet. Every successful team needs a reliable keeper and he would be a top notch player for us. You'd think he would want to stay in the league, and could get another league team easily enough though, so the chances would probably be slim.

Personally I wouldn't feel confident having Martin Rice as the senior goalkeeper in the squad.

Can't imagine he'll want to be second best, he could get into a lot of other teams
