Are the club taking the piss with this then or what? Yes Pearce has been immense when he has played and Ricey too but we've been at the foot of the table nearly all season, lost about a million games and played like the puppets off Lazytown every week into the bargain. If only we had a playmaker like Sportacus then it could have been so different.
If I was the player nominated I'd have the decency to make my excuses and refuse the award given such circumstances. Have some dignity.
For what it is worth, I think Ricey should be the one to get it (and turn it down) because he has hardly put a foot wrong, was wrongly dropped by a panicking manager after doing nothing to deserve it. Probably based on everyone seeing Pokey as the better keeper. From what I've seen of him since his return I'd beg to differ. Ricey has hung in there, has always given 100% without moaning and is a true pro. He also has banter with us at away games which is great compared to some of the miserable arses and I get the impression he just loves the game and being involved. Two years ago I thought Ricey was a bit of a liability but unlike Bodin and other 'misunderstood' players, he has changed my mind about him by actually doing what matters on the pitch on a regular basis. The evidence is there for all to see and it cannot be ignored.
Seriously though, anyone attending any sort of 'awards' night to reflect on our season clearly has nothing to do of an evening or is sick in the nut.
