when you compare Torquay's staffing cost to turnover it is in excess of 75% !
High volume retailers, such as supermarkets, would generally have a figure closer to 6 or 7% and even the most labour hungry high street shops such as hairdressers, dry cleaners etc would only be 20 to 25%
