How much would you pay for a season ticket?

by nickfrench82 » 22 Feb 2014, 11:44

Matt, I've had a couple of ideas for a while, but never really floated is to offer a 'Director For The Day' package for people to purchase as a gift for a birthday, or Christmas present. Including the usual ticket etc, but with a seat either in the D-Box, or with the directors who sit in the Bench, along with use of the Boardroom with them, a chat with Thea/Simon Baker etc, joining them with their lunch, maybe a meet and greet with the gaffer.

The other is a luxury away day package, best reserved for a shorter trip(up and back in a day) to avoid hotel costs. To travel on the team coach and join the players and staff for lunch, before taking up your space in the away end.

No idea on pricing, or what people would be willing to pay. Both ideas may be non-starters for the club, but if you want to present them as your own, you are more than welcome to!

Could well be something to use as a prize within this draw, or just as an idea to give when at the next focus group meeting.

Hmm, OK, Camb raises some interesting points. The idea behind the idea (what?!?!) was to bring in extra pre-season cash into the club. We'd have to make the draw for the prize before the closing date of the Early Bird tickets, otherwise people will lose out.
This isn't really a raffle, it's more one of those things you used to get at the airport (for some reason), where you buy a ticket for the chance to win a car. There have been people who have sold their houses in a similar manner. They flog 200,000 £5 tickets and get a million quid for their two bed semi. They make a packet and someone gets a house for five quid.

Still, that's why I put up this thread, to find the general consensus. If we agree that multiple prizes would attract more interest, then I'll pitch that (I'll pitch it anyway, if I'm honest. It's the club's decision, I'm just an ideas man).

For that package Matt, I think a fiver would be more than fair. I like the idea of the big fan experience but I actually would suggest you split up all the prizes to give people more chance to win.

Put it another way, whenever you have done a raffle at your local village hall, they lay out all the prizes on the table and you might win the luxury hamper, you might win the cheap bottle of plonk or you might win nothing. Either way, you've had fun and helped a good cause, but you had a decent chance at winning something. Now if all those prizes were all grouped together and therefore your odds would be greatly shorterned, would you be inclined to spend as much knowing that although the prize is good, you will have barely any chance at winning?

Also, I would suggest the tickets could be bought over an extended period of time so people might buy a strip every time they come to a game. Perhaps twice a season, once just before Christmas and once at the end of the season.

I think a fiver is fair. but then if say 500 people were willing to buy one for a tenner, would the club get 1000 people to pay a fiver?

does that make sense? :/

If the tickets were a fiver, I'd have two. If they were a tenner, I probably wouldn't buy one. Strange I know, just a psychological thing I think Matt.

You can put me down in the 'yes' column if it helps the pitch though!

Tis a good idea this, but have heard in a bid to keep police cells empty and help the over run law courts, the local crime commissioner, has authorised the police to had on the spot TUFC season tickets for all minor crimes.

What's not to like about that, a bargain. Hope the pitch goes well, and if you're nervous then just picture them all in their underwear.

Yeah, you'd get a ST in the area of your choice (although there would be no guaranteeing a choice of seat if in the stands). You'd get a shirt of your choice (home, away, kids etc, but no printing). Dinner etc at a match of your choice (or a non-matchday event such as Mother's Day, subject to availability).

I would definitely enter, sounds like a great idea to me. Money isn't an issue if it is going directly to the club. I think that £10 is a good amount that everyone could/would/should contribute for a chance to win a season ticket and maybe a bit more, if I don't win I would be satisfied that my money has gone to the club.

I have to be honest, and probably sound wanky in the process, but I would probably still shell out on a Season Ticket and shirt etc even I was to win. I think that its our duty as fans to hand over a certain amount of cash to the club each season and I like to feel like I am doing my bit.

Probably insignificant but would it be a choice of season ticket? (Pop/Bristows/Family) bearing in mind that there is a price difference between seats and terrace?

No competition yet, Andy, but this is to be my primary pitch at the next Focus Group meeting and I was gauging opinion beforehand.

Sort of a win a Torquay Fan package for the season ahead

Sounds good!
