Seen several cases of posters writing some thing a long the lines of, I've heard some thing but can't tell you, don't really see the point, if you're going dangle the carrot, be prepared to tell people. As for speculation and rumour, nothing wrong with that, all part of the fun.

And remember, those in the know, were well and truly caught out by the 11th hour Martin Ling appointment, will that happen again?

I don't think anyone seriously expects people to state sources or the exact nature of everything they hear, but just to keep the stuff they can't tell quiet.

This thread is a good case. Matt has said fowler was considered and rejected. It's nice to know that info (thanks Matt), as we've all heard rumours and this adds weight to them. He hasn't said where it's come from and it doesn't really matter. What people object to is why he just didn't say that in the first place!

Anyway, off topic and something that has been discussed on here before, so I shall leave it at that.

You didn't seem to read my post too well; I was pretty impartial and I actually don't mind if you post gold info, make stuff up or make hints to what you know. I merely offered an explanation as to why people seem to reply in a hostile way to those mysterious posts. I also didn't suggest you do mind; the amount of stick you get on here I would imagine you would have killed yourself/gone insane/deleted your account by now if you did.

Although now, after your reply, I kind of wonder what the point was in your original post? I mean, if it's ok to state what you know explicitly now, why couldn't you have done that in the first place? You can see how you leave yourself open to negative appraisals of your motivation when things like that happen.

The problem with your point, is that many people can't tell you exactly who they know, or where information comes from. If every piece of sourced information on here came with a full list of sources and quotes, I can tell you this much, the news and 'in the know' information would dry up very very quickly.

I can confirm that Ferrarilover is, in fact, correct when he said that collectively the comments on this thread are half right.
It is not a groundless/pointless attempt at pretending to have inside information.

One positive, apart from being very wealthy, for Robbie Fowler is that he is not afraid to say what he thinks, even if he is "politically incorrect". The fact that he was forced to apologise for a perfectly innocent remark was shameful. I like the guy, but I can't see that he is right for the Gulls as manager.

This "in the know" bollocks annoys me. If we draw a Venn diagram of the situation, we have one circle of people who know people who make decisions at Torquay and we have another circle of people who use this forum. Inevitability, the overlap between the two leads to people who post odd things on here in order to give those not in the middle bit a little something to go on and a little bit of hope for the future.

If you don't want to know, then fine, ignore stuff that's posted by these people. No one forces you to read it, take heed of it or anything else.

For my part, I get endless PMs, Twitter messages and what not from people who really do want to know if they might safely hang their hat on a new striker or have 50p on Mr Bean being our new manager.

If, through my interpersonal relationships, I happen to have come across some general knowledge which might be of interest, I let people know. Sometimes, the fanbase are despondent following a game like yesterday's, so I try to offer a crumb of comfort (and deflect some of the genuinely insane ramblings) by, in the words of Dr Evil, throwin' a frickin' bone.

People like to think they are in the "know"

Im not and I don't care if Im the last to know, which usually I am.

A lot of the contributions on here are conjecture, gut feeling and guess work including my posts. I have no idea what's in the brains of the relevant members of the board. In fact I have no idea of the dynamics of the board and its decision making, and I would guess most on this forum don't either.

I just hope they interview 4 or 5 candidates and make a logical decision based on man management skills, motivational and tactical awareness, and also contact's in the game.

But there are also unknown unknowns â€“ there are things we do not know we don't know.
There are also things we read on here, and nobody really knows what to make of 99.9% of that.
