Whether Pearce committed a foul or not Cluecas dived and got Pearce booked and sent off. We seem to readily accept this as part of the modern game. Why don't refs see through this more? The premier league prima donnas started aĺl this nonsense. I'm not a fan of rugby but I believe Football has a lot to learn from it with regard to respect of fellow players and refereeing.

the game is now full of nancy boys who fall over and roll around and try to get players sent off, a sad fact of the game these days and life in general, sadly the football authorities have taken the contact out of the sport and are ruining it for the spectators, the fact is that if tommy smith and norman hunters of this world were playing they would be spending most weeks sat in the stands.
the game for me is going in the wrong direction at a great rate of speed and is boring to watch and i dont just mean at this level, the premiership is probably worse still for diving and rolling around.

That's as may be, but to do what he did in the circumstances in which he found himself was very silly. Not excusing the pass, but it could have been dealt with much better.

Nope, Pearce pulled him back and the bloke went down. Y4 will be along in a minute to explain using the correct language that the offence is made out if A "impedes or attempts to impede" (similar to "trips or attempts to trip") B, an opponent. Knowing he was on a booking, that there were covering defenders and he was 40+ yards from goal, Pearce was bloody stupid to do what he did and he got everything he deserved. Just a shame that it cost 2100 supporters and 10 other players plus countless others two points.

To be honest thought Pearce pulled the lad back whether he stayed on his feet or not, remember Benyon back in our conference days being fouled in the box staying on his feet and not getting the penalty, and that's the problem player honesty doesn't always pay.
