Hawley might actually be our best option for headers. He won't be beating many for height, but from what I've seen of him he has a good jump and also ghosts into positions between defenders. Ball seems to more like Howe in that he is better with his feet than his head.

Saw the Downes header, great cross from Niall and partly the reason why i clamoured for a aerial presence up front to finish off pin point in swingers like that. Downes won't be that far advanced for most games unless there is a set piece so i guess we'll have to rely on Ball? I'm not sure Hawley is that good in the air.

haven't seen all of that yet, will catch up with that. I was there at preston that night and just stood there gutted whilst they celebrated when one of there fans who was about 20 feet away from us bent down on the pitch and got out what could only have been like astanley knife and started ripping the pitch up !! One or two other patches started to appear all over the pitch then and a few pieces were handed to our fans or lobbed over the fence :-/

Not sure if this has been covered elsewhere, as I am only catching up with it today, but last night's show had a segment on Preston North End, asking some of their fans for their most memorable moments. One chose the play-off 2nd leg against us. The infamous Paul Raynor game. He mistakenly said that it was in 1995, when in fact it was the year before but there was obviously a lot of animosity all round at that game. Remember at the end when their fans invaded the pitch and started taunting and goading the Torquay fans as they swarmed towards us, only for Torquay fans to diffuse it by applauding. Then everyone just started tearing up the pitch as it was the last game to be played on their plastic. I had a big bit for ages after that.
