The game yesterday was Readings development squad v our reserves.

Our team was as follows

Thompson
Leadbitter Hutchings Washburn Trialist

Thompson Craig Morris Macklin
Sullivan Yeoman

Result 2-2 yeoman scores both goals for Torquay

In my opinion nial Thompson was appalling, Morris, Craig, yeoman looked good and as I said before there were good performances from the 2 new lads Hutchings and Sullivan
So Morris has had two full competitive games - I'm taking it that he didn't stop, get substituted or otherwise show he couldn't manage a game on Saturday. So he's got to be a better choice than Lathrope. Yeoman still scoring well - also better than a hobbled Howe surely. Shame about Thommo as I was hoping after his influence in the Bowl game last week that he could have a positive influence for the first team (and he still could but you're evidence suggests you don't see consistency) Who provided Yeoman with the assists?

Lathrope - struggles in a 2-man midfield.
Craig - as above.
Easton - don't really rate the bloke. Him and Mansell in the middle would be suicide.
Morris - surely he's not fit enough.

Unless we're going to have a change of tactics to bring in 4-5-1 again then I don't know what I'd do.

Alan knill, robbie Herrera and Sean Taylor were all in attendance

I was at the development game today which ended in a 2-2 draw at reading, we were 2-0 up but due to the conditions, hence the wind the game finished 2-2 . The absentee was Damon Lathrope and after the game Sean Taylor said his absence was because of the recall of of labadie. So I take if he will be his replacement. Ian Morris played very well and ran the midfield with also good performances from Ashley yeoman, Daniel leadbitter, Jake Hutchings and Daniel Sullivan. They were definitely the stand out players.
Can you give a little more info as I can't find it? In your opinion who was up to playing at L2 level? Were Craig Macklin and Thommo in the game? and who scored?

Basically I have given up. Going to watch a local game on Saturday and not even taking the radio. Doubt if I will even go to the Barnet game. Its only football after all but why does the almost inevitable relegation hurt so much?
We either play shit and lose (Bradford) or play well (Northampton) and lose - its always the same.
As another poster says other teams seem to fluke wins, opposition players get sent off, penalties when we generally get **** all.
Believe me we could actually have won at Northampton. The most blatant penalty you will ever see and the cheating tosser in the middle doesn't give it.
Looking for a miracle but there isn't one.

IF Morris is fit enough to play at least part of a game, I wouldn't have worries about him. He tries to hold the ball and play to feet and wins headers. Craig did ok at southend too.
And forevertufc you are right about not going to Gillingham with such a defeatist attitude. We have to make a fight as a heavy defeat would wreck our superior goal difference and let Argyle and Barnet effectively gain a vital point on us even if they lost by a goal.
When Barnet were awful earlier this season they went and won at Gillingham. Gillingham will also go into this thinking they just have to turn up, and they are so far clear that they could also afford a slip up - all grounds for complacency. If you keep in a game score wise even if the other team is on top football can always throw up a sending off for the opposition, a lucky penalty, own goal, refereeing decision that can provide an unexpected reward.

Ah I see that explains it, the post did have me confused because it appeared you were either telling Stevegulll he was wrong after he had just agreed with you, or you were having a dig at Christ.. :)

Howe up top alone? We KNOW that doesn't work. If we don't score, we lose, there's no holding out for a nil-nil here. If we play one up top, we may as well forfeit the match now and save the petrol money for the coach.

Matt.

Away at Gillingham I would be tempted to sling Jarvis into the middle alongside Mansell and Craig. Have Chappel and 1 other out wide(not Bodin) with Just Howe up front. The middle would at least have some work rate in it, with players who like to try and go foward. Although I am not sure it really matters one way or the other, I think with loss of labadie, they will over run us with whatever we put out

When you say you're wrong, who is wrong, who do you mean, Christ or someone else ? Thinking about wonder if Christ was a gulls fan, not sure even with his powers he could help right now. :)
