David Hockaway and Justin Edinbrough for me if we go down. FGR and Newport managers and both have done very well with what I imagine with not that big finances.

Both know the league and I would guess they have a lot of targets they would lobe to sign and we may be a more realistic place to attract them players.

Ideas have been put forward, Matt. I'm not suggesting we stretch ourselves financially, I'd rather go down than do what others have done and welched on paying their debts. I'm a firm believer that a club can generate more income by fair methods and I know of plenty put forward but turned down rather than risk upsetting certain people established in their positions at the Club. If we have people running the club that are happy for us to remain as we are then that's what will happen, I just wish they would open their eyes to how other more progressive clubs have moved forwards. I don't think it's unfair to suggest we can improve things off the pitch to help matters on it.

Love of the club, locality, knowledge of the division, fresh ideas, burning passion for the game. As for the falling out with people, I think that's much more common in football than we realise. We're hardly dealing with Mensa candidates here and generally clumping together a group of young lads with too much ego and not enough vocabulary is a recipe for disaster in terms of group dynamic.

Dave, could we as a club combine increased solvency with on field progression? It seems to be the fashion these days that those two things are mutually exclusive. Clubs either pay the piper and stay where they are, or they **** over all and sundry and shoot up to giddy new heights? Obviously I'm sure you're not suggesting we'll be on the Forbes Fortune 100 or in the Premier League any time soon...

Or a return of Buckle. Had a message from someone who mentioned seeing him in conversation with our deluded Chairman which was also alluded to by a usually reliable source so I wouldn't be surprised to see the little weasel come back here to try and get his stumbling career back on track. My problem with that would be Buckles lack of contacts and habit of signing the same old players wherever he goes. I would prefer to see someone totally fresh come in with new ideas and their own list of desired recruits. That said, we seriously need a change of leadership at the club. We need people who will embrace the challenge of taking the club forwards, not a bumbling inept duo who are content to see us stagnate. Someone with a vision and a passion to improve interest and the financial knowledge to make the club more solvent. I believe we have the right men at the club already but are they being allowed to put their ideas into practice.

I agree with you regarding Knill, although I disagree that Chris Hargreaves is a suitable option. If we stay up then Sturrock would be a good choice and if we go down then we need someone who has done it at that level. Someone like Paul Cox at Mansfield who has only ever been a non-league manager, albiet a very successful one, and looks set to clinch the title with Mansfield.

But a massive no to Knill. Utterly ineffective as a manager for us.

Unbelieveable comment from Alan Knill in an interview with RD, played before the game today. He stated that it came as a shock to him when Notts County recalled Labadie. Why? It's been a worry of mine for weeks now that this would happen and all the pointers suggested to me that County would want another look at him! So, the fact that it came as a shock to our Manager beggars belief!

Amidst all the wailing and gnashing of teeth I see that Aldershot have lost Aaron Morris for the rest of the season, a player that a lot of their fans rated as their only decent performer this year!

Maybe relegation isn't a certainty after all. ;-)
