I have never been a keeper, however have done football coaching courses and refreshers, and during my time supporting my own lad have learnt a great deal about keeping. The one I think all the keepers on the site would agree on, and I know all the keeper coachs I have met including our own Kenny Veysey and I have also been lucky enough to meet a number of ex-pro keepers would also agree on is, a massive, massive part of goalkeeping is confidence.

The only way a keeper can build confidence is through playing games, to be fair to Ricey he has not played much if any football, if the club was able to run a regular reserve side Ricey would have played games and no doubt would have atleast played with more confidence.

The conditions were a nightmare for keepers, taking that into account thought his distribution was good, over hit a couple of goal kicks, but again wind was strong and to critise the lad for that would be harsh, his handling was spot again with the strong wind easier said than done, did make one very good save aswell.

Yep he looked very hesitant and unsure around the area, however again that is down to confidence and games, the lad does not inspire confidence in the defence, he may not be a league 2 standard keeper, which is difficult in our position, but again thats not down to Ricey, it is down to those who have put him in that position. Just thought the lad did not deserve some of the automatic critism he got around the ground, as all in all he did not do to badly.

Are you suggesting then, Matt, that we get Ricey to commit a felon and have him "banged up" for a month? :red: :O

Forever is correct. Regulation 54 of the Football League Regulations allows that ALL the professional goalkeepers must be independently certified as unfit.

Full ruling here: http://www.football-league.co.uk/regula ... 2125731#54

That said, suspensions count also. Maybe Ricey could write a nasty letter to someone at the FA and get himself a misconduct charge? While I'm on this, I wonder what happens in the Bilel Moshni situation where a player simply refuses to play? Or if they are in jail? I guess it would be up for special exemption, but it's a ponderment none-the-less.

Matt.

One thing I forgot to add earlier, not sure we would be able to bring in an emergency keeper on loan if Pokey was ruled out for a period of time.

Last time we did it was for Notts County home, when Steve Collis played at that time both senior keepers (Poke/Bevan) were ruled out, Rice is fit and I am not sure whether Connor Tompson would be counted as a senior player.

Cambdridge were allowed to do it for the conference play-off final against us, however at that time they also had no fit senior keepers.

Lol Andy my lad would love to play, however 2 things would stop he is only a U16 and he also is injured right now so could not play, 4wks into a fractured wrist injury, I may don the tin hat soon and admit which club he is on suspended trial at, not for mo however.. :Z

If this injury makes him fit for Saturday why didn't he just play on today? We needed him by the sound of it.
