Don't want to get excited about this, but if they where to get a 3 point deduction and we win on Saturday we would stay up.

There was nothing in that article that even remotely suggests they could get a points deduction this season.

Sorry to be a buzz kill.

"Hefty fine or worse" would suggest so. What's worse than a fine for a football club?

Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Would be very surprised if they got a points deduction. I fully expect they will be heavily fined. Would be nice if they got a ten point deduction though!

Was the 'hefty fine or worse' not referring to the fans who encroached the pitch? As in they could have season tickets taken away etc...

If they could realistically be relegated with this decision don't you think the article would have lead with that line?

Exactly Andy, It's either a points deduction or automatic relegation, there are no other punishments!

I fully appreciate it doesn't mention points deduction, but when they(rovers) say worst, it can only mean points deduction or they have to play in an empty stadium for some games! Didn't want to say they where, as I just posted there response, which points to that possibility.

Back in the real world it will be a hefty fine! I wouldn't be surprised if it is at least £50,000, but it won't be a points deduction.

It would more likely have been a points deduction for an offence directly connected with the football such as fielding an ineligible player, as happened to Wimbledon recently.

So we really ought to be looking at the team selections of the other clubs and the dates they signed their players and notified the League, if we want to avoid relegation that badly. Which is to say, do we really want to avoid relegation on a technicality? We're much better sports than that, aren't we..??
