Worst defence in the top 12, worse GD than the team in 19th, same number of defeats as the teams currently 21st and 22nd. Those are poor stats from looking at that table.

I have been pretty adament we will get the playoffs based purely on the fact the other teams around us are just as inconsistent, but getting less certain about this every week. Even if we do make the playoffs, I don't think we are good enough to actually win them.

I am not arrogant enough to think we have a devine right to beat teams like Dartford - we are in this league and league position for a reason. However, we shouldn't be losing 3-0.

One of the above posts highlights the biggest problem we have now at TUFC, GJ should have gone a year ago when a relegation fight was obvious, he should have gone after relegation was confirmed, the fact we've lost 8 of 18 games in a part time league full of cannon fodder should be enough to see him gone, but he's still here.

He shown the worst arrogance possible today, telling members of the travel club, those fans who spend their money freely travelling around the country supporting our team, the most loyal of our fans, that they were ' the wrong type of fans' that alone should be enough for the local board to act , but still they sit in silence.

Said it before and was ignored, will say it again, Gary Johnson has become Clarke Osbourne's useful idiot, Osbourne and co don't give a shit about this club or us the fans, time they all forked off, and let us start again.

GJ not going anywhere
We win on Tuesday and will all start thinking the corner has been turned!
Just really frustrating being Torquay fan.
I wouldn't be sure on us winning Tuesday, the predictions on this thread were laughable pre game

On current form we would be lucky for a point on Tuesday

Eastbourne will absolutely have more fighting spirit than us on Tuesday. They will be more up for it than us. We have no characters or talkers geeing people up on the pitch. For all their experience Moxey and Hall are both very quiet.
Lapslie talks but most of it is at the referee.

Phew! the Gaffer really taken to task in that interview - the first question was a humdinger - "Gaffer is it a case of the better team not winning?" How did Johnson keep a straight face!

Johnson is simply the Osborne smokescreen. His ‘Captain Mainwaring’ routine combined with poor results keeps the fans’ vitriol away from the real threat to the club - Osborne.

Anyone who thinks Osborne will not screw us over just because he has spent £6m does not understand investment strategy. That is a sunk cost, he has lost that money regardless (he won’t recover it from football activities or from selling the club as a football team) and there is no point him walking away if he thinks he can make back, say, £2m from this point. A £4m loss is better than a £6m loss.

He has tens of companies involved in various “sporting” and non-sporting ventures (from solar farms, to raw materials, to property management, to land speculation), he can afford to take risks and is likely willing to accept limited losses on some if it means his overall portfolio generates profitable returns.

Crikey, I know "highlights"/"lowlights" can be misleading but that looked like we hadn't a clue - repeated joke defending and a midfield which appeared non-existent. I think we must recognise now are a bog-standard lower-mid table team in a poor league.

I no longer listen to johnsons pre or post match comments, they are tripe, you would get more truth and factual content from a episode of jackanory, watching the lowlights and listening to the commentary, Dartford although being part time were more professional than us ,Johnson will claim first team injuries played their part but that is the same for every club in any league and is no excuse, and as for getting them in for training this morning ,that is the last thing we need, we seem to cop as many injuries on the training pitch as we do in comptetive matches.

Not a normal training session of course but to go over verbally and on the pitch the defensive errors which led to the goals and not just in the penalty area. Though guess it's like flogging a dead horse, some players just can't take it in and learn, either that or the coaching
is poor. No idea what Downes is like as a coach, doesn't seem too impressive so far though ! Great bloke and excellent player but doesn't necessarily mean great coach.

Johnson just doesn't seem capable any more of building/moulding a team and motivating them, certainly away from home, he is shuffling the pack trying to come up with a winning combination and formation every time. He'll say it's injuries , it's not, all the squad players should be able to come in and do the job. The players he signed have not got the mental toughness and desire to be better players
Unforgivable to lose three bloody nil to an out of form team who have lost their last 3 home games and must have been doubting themselves, until we show up and put in a pitiful first half , when Dartford must have thought 'not much to worry about here lads'
Let's get at them.

:goodpost:

A pity - and misguided view - that some on here see Osborne as some sort of messiah..... :-/
