All this crap spouted about dispensing with GJ's devices is stupid.
Everyone knows about the incredible bad luck we've suffered with long term squad injuries & at a club like ours you're not going to have decent first teamers not even making the match day squad week in week out & keep a happy cohesive atmosphere within.
On paper our strongest 11 are good enough for a top 7 finish but right now there are so many missing any result in our favour is a bonus.
Time heals & GJ will get it right, remember all those years ago when a certain Alex Ferguson couldn't buy a result anywhere ? They stuck with him & look what happened !
Mid table is a decent expectation this year so let's get there as soon as possible & then make 2020/21 an early focus.

GARY JOHNSON YELLOW ARMY,

I’ve been doubting him last few weeks, asking myself if he has lost the changing room?
We have had Hargreaves, Owers, Nicholson,Cox, Sacking Gary will only mean one thing Torquay going backwards & Torquay sacking him would only be a negative. Before the season I thought play offs, that’s because Gary was the man who told us to aim and expect that. That’s because he put so much faith in these players thinking that they were good enough to battle play offs. The reality is this squad is full of young inexperienced lads. Not good enough to push for promotion, in honesty we’re not ready for promotion this season.

When Little, Davis, Wynter, even Vincent return that’ll be a positive effect

Our squad is not the best, we have the manager who deserves to last this season as long as we stay up. Next season should be when we actually judge him.

Can't believe that people are still posting on this ridiculous thread - you will not find anyone putting forward sensible suggestions for a replacement, SuperNicky.

I just hope that nobody starts a chant to the tune of "Johnson out" anywhere in the stadium at a home match. I think most of us would feel quite embarrassed given his pedigree as a manager. The interesting thing is, 99% of Torquay fans believe Gary Johnson to be the right man, and when he does turn it around this season or next, the ones that are calling for his head now will still attend Plainmoor and this very forum, feeling very grateful that he didn't get sacked.

Over his last few interviews he has seemed slightly stressed, almost expecting negativity from the interviewer. I really hope he listens to those of us who really believe in his ability and above all I hope he stays to ram some comments back down peoples throats. He's a quality manager who wouldn't have been in this position solely down to our horrendous collection of injuries. Given time that will change and we will start pushing on up the table.

He is exactly the manager we would all be clamouring for if someone else had taken over from the useless Owers.

Good to see Koszela given another opportunity when we needed a goal on Saturday! Oh no my mistake! We don’t bring on an enthusiastic young striker who we are paying full time wages to each week to see if he can offer something a little different and maybe nick the points.
Decided to have a little look at the reasons behind Johnson leaving Cheltenham a little earlier. Wow! Deja vu is the phrase I believe! Have a read why don’t you?

Thanks Howdid - insight . . .
Let's hope GJ will pull us through and stay for some more years, but we can't ignore it - there's been a few abrupt ends to his tenures as a Manager.

Well congratulations for posting such great insight, almost like we didn't already know.

Now answer questions posed by various members, who would you like as manager , list thier qualities and how they'd take our club forward.

Very interesting read Howdid....

Wonder how he’ll react when the fans start turning on him at games.... that’s only a matter of time... seems like he cannot handle criticism...

Seeing he failed to sign a striker even though he had fund available worries me.... will he struggle to sign players for us going forward who knows......

Ours fans cannot let our passion and love for Gary get in the way of football results on the pitch. He holds responsibility. It seems like some of the fans will happily see us get relegated as long as Gary stays in charge.... lose our next 2 league games and we’re definitely in a relegation battle...

Win 7 games go 2 points off top, nothing. Get a ton of injuries lose 7 games and now it's all Johnson's fault and he must go. Ridiculous. We are not the big boys of this league, we have a great manager with solid experience and good contacts for this level of football. Who are we gonna replace him with anyway? there is no one we can afford that is better suited to this level than GJ. It was only a few months ago people were worried a bigger team would steal GJ from us. Give it a rest let GJ get on with his job and support the team through the rough times. For me we sit where i expected after we won promotion, i thought we would be mid-table bang average in this league for the first season anyway and so far with the help of serious bad luck on injuries that is proving to be the case. I still believe GJ is the man for the job though he can only work with what he has got and hopefully he has been given some resources to bring in some reinforcements.

Forevertufc I am not a recruitment specialist and how can us mere supporters have any sort of clue as to who is both available and affordable. I’d love GJ to get things right and stay as manager. However, we need to take the blinkers off before it’s too late.
